They also had an earlier date for finalist notifications and were hiring less people. Check with your references, see if they have been contacted. If so, then just wait like the rest of us and see, hopefully we will all get an offer in a city we want!Anonymous User wrote:Dude last year a bunch of offers went out the first week of December, I'll chill but it can't hurt to ask.Anonymous User wrote:Dude they are hiring 90 people, everyone needs to chill it is going to take time.Anonymous User wrote:Any OCIJ offers yet?

Any thoughts on prospects for finalists with no reference checks so far? You think they are just bogged down with that, or is that just bad news?Anonymous User wrote:They also had an earlier date for finalist notifications and were hiring less people. I'm pretty sure the grades just go by years of experience?Nebby wrote:Not to highjack this thread, but I don't quite understand how anyone would start at $90k through DOJ honors. That would be GS-13 step 1, and I've never heard nor seen anyone start out at that, even post-two-clerkships. GS-13 is a supervisor position, and I highly doubt DOJ is going to make an "entry-level" hire a supervisor.
The next possibility is GS-12 step 7, but even that stretches the imagination for someone with at most 3-years of post-grad experience.

Yes. I am wrong. If OP has 3 years of experience, such as fellowship+clerkship+clerkship, then they're eligible for GS-13.A. Re: DOJ Honors 2015-16 Megathread
I don't think that's quite right. The DOJ website specifically says that a person with two years of clerking will start at GS-13.
•2 – 3 years of full-time judicial clerkships, or combination of 2 – 3 years of post-law school full-time clerkships, qualifying full-time legal fellowships, or a post-law school full-time graduate law degree program: eligible for a GS-13, step 1

Yes, some OCIJ offers have gone out. Arlington, Boston, and Buffalo are the ones I know of.

Re: DOJ Honors 2015-16 Megathread
GS 13 is not supervisor level. People with 2 years of clerking under their belt can start at GS 13. At least in some divisions, you go from GS 11 to 12 after six months (when you're straight out of school, and provided you passed the bar in the meanwhile) and then to 13 a year later, so it actually needn't take you more than ~1.5 years total to get there as an honors hire.Nebby wrote:Yes. Congrats to those who have received offers for OCIJ, if those on here who did receive an offer today do you mind mentioning when your references were contacted and if you were the first batch to be made a finalist in the morning on Wed,11/18 or the later afternoon batch or another day. Just trying to get a feeling of if when you were designated a finalist and when your references were checked matters between most likely being a primary or an alternate. Thanks and congrats again.

Can you also please say what immigration court?? (From the post below that said Arlington, Boston and Buffalo had made offers, it seems like maybe they are going in alphabetical order?)Anonymous User wrote:Congrats to those who have received offers for OCIJ, if those on here who did receive an offer today do you mind mentioning when your references were contacted and if you were the first batch to be made a finalist in the morning on Wed,11/18 or the later afternoon batch or another day. Congrats to everyone who has received an offer! For all you OCIJ people, has everyone received an offer via telephone, or did some of you receive an offer via email? Also, does it make a difference if your references were contacted via email or phone? Thanks!

Pretty sure OCIJ offers are always by phone. I've never heard of an e-mail offer. (For any component.)

No offer from USTP yet. I received the locations e-mail last week. Hopefully offers will come soon! If you don't mind sharing, do you have a preference for East Coast, West Coast, or Midwest?
