Any hope for GDC interviewees today who didn't get a dinner invite?

Does anyone know if DPW has a high callback --> offer rate?

Re: UChicago OCI 2015
Harvard and Columbia provide their students with a comprehensive statistical report of the interview, callback, and offer numbers for every firm's office that comes to EIP (# of interview requests, actual # of interviews conducted, # of callbacks offered, # of callbacks conducted, # of offers, # of acceptances). OCS could easily compile a spreadsheet and give us this information, and it would be immensely helpful in this process.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know if DPW has a high callback --> offer rate?
For what it's worth, here's Harvard's 2014 EIP data on DPW's NYC office from last year:
180 screeners
97 callback offers
87 callback acceptances
70 offers
So, congrats to the people who secured a callback from DPW. The odds are ever in your favor.

Did anyone who got a GDC dinner invite interview late? Like after 4pm?
If so that's pretty discouraging. It was probably my most successful interview so far (or so it felt). :/

They offer to take you to dinner at the end of the interview before you exit the room

Re: UChicago OCI 2015
I was towards the very end of the day at GDC. Was by far my best interview (3 other CBs so far), above any grade cut offs, etc., and no invite.
Might be blind faith, but I wouldn't worry about it. I still feel confident in chances there. Would only worry once other people (who attended the dinner or not) have heard back.

I know of quite a few DC/NY GDC dinner offers, but haven't heard any for CA offices yet. Can anyone confirm that CA has given dinner invites too?!

Re: UChicago OCI 2015
This varies. I got invited via email a few hours after my interview, presumably after they had reviewed my transcript (I have grades just shy of K&E, but no LR or journal).Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Did anyone who got a GDC dinner invite interview late? Like after 4pm?

If it's like last year then your screener interviewer will call you with cb invite. So there might be more lag time between invites since it's not an email blast from the recruiting team like DpwAnonymous User wrote:Still no word from deb NYC?

Re: UChicago OCI 2015
Sorry, but unlikely to work out. I felt the same last year - got on really well with the interviewers, K&E/LR, was bidding CA pretty heavily... no dinner no CB, and that's just how it works with GDC. The interviewers they send are really really good and I think everyone feels like it went great, but it does seem like they have a type moreso than a lot of firms, so just because it went well doesn't necessarily mean it went well in the ways it needed to go well. If that makes sense.Anonymous User wrote:I was towards the very end of the day at GDC. Was by far my best interview (3 other CBs so far), above any grade cut offs, etc., and no invite.

Also, I realize that I'm coming down harder on this post than it really deserves, but: there's a faint whiff of entitlement-to-a-callback that I think is going to lead to a lot of unhappiness throughout OCI, and that I would recommend getting over ASAP. Sometimes you'll just be like, shit, that interview went awesome, my grades and resume are great, my practice interests are super aligned with what this firm does, etc - and then it just doesn't happen. Look, your classmates are awesome and are awesome in ways that you might not even know about not having looked at their resumes/transcripts. Or a firm might have had an unexpected amount of acceptances in its previous year's summer class and as a result is looking to hire less this year. Or maybe there's something on your resume that your interviewer has a really bad reaction to, but they're professional enough not to let it show during the screener.
Shit happens and you won't get all the CBs or offers that you want, even if your grades are fantastic. That doesn't mean get down on yourself generally - part of this process is realizing that getting or not getting a CB doesn't reflect shit about your self worth. But, to whatever degree possible, I'd really really not to get attached or expectant about certain callbacks or offers. Some people do get almost everything, but the vast majority of people will miss at least a few, and it's more harmful longterm if you're sulky about missing X Firm's callback in your next screener with Y firm.
The flipside of this is that almost everyone who does OCI here ends up landing on their feet and being totally fine. So don't take this as an invitation to go nuts worrying - just the opposite. Don't sweat the missed CBs.

Going to re-post this here for you guys. I know myself and a bunch of others who went through OCI last year found this incredibly helpful to judge our callback odds.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know if DPW has a high callback --> offer rate?
It's Columbia's 2013 callback report

Re: UChicago OCI 2015
Thanks beep, I really was starting to doubt myself because I feel as though most of my interviews have gone well but I have yet to get a single CB. The frustrating part isn't the rejection, but not knowing what is going wrong. If it's fit then whatever, but if I'm saying something that's off putting it'd be nice to know.
