Re Cooley, is each office designated x number of diversity fellows, or is it more of a free for all? The app gives the option to apply to each office (of which there are eight), which is strange if they only take six total fellows.

My apologies. I misread that. Idk if each office is designated a number, but based on NALP, San Diego, Broomfield, and Seattle haven't had a 1L SA in recent years, and Boston and Reston rarely do.

Does anyone know what kind of work a legal internship at the Met Museum of Art in NYC entails? I would think copyright, mostly, but I need a better idea of what to write about for my cover letter.

Maybe a little, but I would expect some of a lot of stuff:

employment/OSHA
estates/trusts
purchase/service Ks
tax (as relates to non-profits)
maybe some real estate

Why not just say Midwest or some other term that doesn't make you sound like a stuck up snob from the coasts that thinks anywhere else in the country is simply just a "flyover state". If I ever heard an applicant use that term it would be an auto-reject. Just fyi.

If I haven't mass mailed by this point, is it credited to just wait until I have a transcript to send? I'm feeling really dgaf at this point anyway and might just do a public defender gig or something anyway. Is that easy to get?

I have two grades in so far, looking at roughly top 10% at a t20. Should I be waiting for full grades before I send stuff out?

Also will I be competitive for 1L SA positions, if I have ties to a secondary market?

Don't wait. You can follow up with the firms after you receive all grades.

And yes, you will be competitive, to the extent 1L SAs exist.

Same way as anywhere else, first check their website to see if they have a specific application procedure, and if not you mass mail.

FWIW, if you're trying to do PI going forward, be sure to apply to the regional offices if you don't get DC, as good work at a regional can be a stepping stone to DC for 2L.

Wouldn't shock me if they are waiting to interview the long list of UT folks in late January before making decisions.
