I know someone who got a 4th round with DANY for this week. She apparently had a competing offer from another DA's office with a deadline though.

Dinged by BX yesterday. Should I drop my hopes of being a prosecutor, or try again next year? If I do do that, do I lose a year of career growth that I should be developing with an as yet unknown "plan b?"

Was Bronx your only shot? I know Brooklyn's hiring a big class this year.Anonymous User wrote:Dinged by BX yesterday. Should I drop my hopes of being a prosecutor, or try again next year? If I do do that, do I lose a year of career growth that I should be developing with an as yet unknown "plan b?"

Anybody else still waiting to hear from Bronx 3rd round? I know some same day offers went out to some but I'm holding out hope that is the exception and not the rule.

I recently interviewed for the final round in the Bronx the day after Thanksgiving. My impression (deduced from these boards, and from the advice of some friends who went through the process last year) is that offers were not given the same day. Is it confirmed that offers went out already? If so, where is this information coming from. I haven't heard anything back since my 3rd round.

I know someone who interviewed on that same day and she got an offer the next week (this last week). Definitely not on the same day though.Anonymous User wrote:I recently interviewed for the final round in the Bronx the day after Thanksgiving. ETA: to try and dispel that this is a rumor without actually outing her, she got a phone call telling her about the offer, when her deadline was, and then apparently she got a letter in the mail as well a few days later.

Thanks for the info. Here's holding out some hope that all the offers from that interview date haven't been exhausted yet.

No problem. With the deadline talk, I think the offers are going out in waves and they're seeing how many people accept versus how many receive and accept an offer from a different office (since the deadline gives these people a chance to contact other offices and see what they say).Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:I know someone who interviewed on that same day and she got an offer the next week (this last week). Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
Sorry to hear. Truth is that not everyone is going to get to be a prosecutor or public defender, no matter how much they want it and how much work they put toward the goal. This is why I have always stressed on here in the prosecution/pd thread to get as much experience you can outside of criminal law. If you still have a semester left, do a clinic, work for legal services, try to get a law clerk position at a firm, intern for a judge, etc. Use your last semester to pad your resume.Anonymous User wrote:Dinged by BX yesterday. As far as trying again to be a prosecutor, give the application process another go, but do not get hung up on being a prosecutor. Don't just stay idle while you hope to land a prosecution job. Look out for other non prosecution jobs, work there for a year or so, get experience, and then reapply to your prosecution job(s) of choice.
Again, don't bank on landing a prosecution job. Start looking out for other jobs.

Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
Sorry to hear about the BX. Is that the only office that you applied to?
You can intern somewhere during your final semester to get experience and help your job prospects. At this point you want get something. If you are set on being a prosecutor, maybe you can intern at a DA's Office your last semester to make a name for yourself.
Question
Out of which office (NYDA, QDA, BK, or BX) do you have the best chance of becoming an AUSA in NY? Thoughts?

There are only a dozen or so counties that hire pre-bar, so I would say broaden your horizons and start looking into other counties in whicher state you take the bar, also I've heard you can intern for some offices after graduating and hope they hire you eventually, but that sounds very expensive and riskyAnonymous User wrote:Dinged by BX yesterday. I'm assuming NYDA, but I've heard of a few Queens people going to AUSA or DOJ, also I know a former Bronx ADA who is at DOJ now.Anonymous User wrote:Sorry to hear about the BX. Is that the only office that you applied to?

Re AUSA exit option
I'd be interested to hear more, cuz it sounds like it depends on who you ask. Network wise, It doesn't make sense to hope to get to SDNY. For the other 3 districts, iv gotten the impression it depends on who you ask. Some say BK is best for EDNY tho
Re Bronx
I had third round last week, and got call the day of. I had final round with another NYC boro already scheduled tho. Maintain hope, since they also doin the January class. But also start positioning yourself for plan b and how to take advantage of your last semester

Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
Yea, I'd like to know how it works for DA's Office --> EDNY AUSA
Does it make sense to work in one of the offices that encompasses EDNY (BK, QDA, Nass, Suff)?
I know some people that worked in the BX years ago who wound up in EDNY, but that was very long ago.
Also, I know someone who interviewed with BX and received a call later that day. They are still making offers, so do not get discouraged. Give it time because it is very early, and offices are still giving out offers.

Anybody know what's going on with Brooklyn? They said before they wanted to finish hiring by the end of the year but they seem to be slowing down at this point? Anybody know about offers going out besides the select few last month?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
