The head of recruiting at my firm is married to someone that was in one of the summer classes (while they were head of recruiting). If your firm is cool, you're probably cool.

Anon for obvious reasons.

They are paid to flirt with you brah.
This. I'm sure it works out sometimes, but if you have to ask I probably wouldn't recommend it.

I got concerned but had to catch a train so left anyways and now I'm panicking because my office mate emailed me to say I have missed a few calls on my office phone.

What's especially annoying is that I know other summers have left at 6 or earlier this summer. And no my office mate isn't trolling she's very serious/intense overall.

Should I be worried about this?
Do you have a Blackberry from the firm or alternate means by which they can reach you? If they needed you, they'd email you and bring you back... I doubt leaving at 6 is a problem unless you didn't check in with the associates/partners you're working for currently before strolling out the door.
I have an office blackberry and haven't received any urgent emails or anyone asking me to do anything. But apparently partners were calling my office phone, according to my office mate.
1.) I have no idea why your officemate would say leaving at 6 p.m. is a bad idea. Maybe it's different at my firm, but as associates we work hard enough that we take every opportunity to leave at 6 p.m. that we can get. And I certainly wouldn't tell a summer to stick around after 6 p.m. if they don't have anything pressing.
2.) Why was she monitoring who was calling your phone? Is she walking over to your desk when you're supposedly getting these calls to see who is calling you?
3.) If partners were trying to get in touch with you and it's after 6 p.m., they know you have an email address. With very few exceptions, they also know how to use email.
4.) You said your officemate is "very intense". It almost sounds like she's trying to fuck with you (and not in a kindhearted way). Has she done anything else that might suggest she would do something of the sort?

So I actually had my favorite associate question me about why I sent something in after 7. I was waiting to do something else and felt kinda bad just sticking around in the internet in the firm computer, so I finished my assignment up rather than waiting till the next day.

He still likes me and is giving me more work so it's nbd, but I feel a bit awkward and gunnery (and now am spending lots of time shopping online if I'm in the office waiting for something to happen after hours).

He probably wasn't angry, but was just trying to let you know you don't have to gun for him.

My associate office mate left before me on Friday (he left somewhat early, I did not stay late) and lol'd at me on the way out the door and said he hoped it never happened again. That's how the relationship is supposed to work imo

Also I did not get a single work email all weekend, I appreciated that

Left at 6:30 once, was made fun of by partner in the elevator for staying so late. Have never gotten a weekend work email.

It just wouldn't sound right for a straight male to ask if he is hot

Went to dinner tonight with my software engineer boyfriend and his software engineer brother. Bill comes. "You're going to pay that, right? I mean, you make more than we do now." (the margin there is, like, 10k max).

Paying sticker at a T14 because I transferred. Was not amused.

Na, you're probably good Reg. Everyone does it anyway, but really don't overstress it. Summers are pretty just assumed to be retarded and so take advantage of everything as a learning experience and ask a bunch of questions.

Not really. Only once, when I told boyfriend I wouldn't go on vacation with him to meet college friends because I couldn't really afford vacations. Bought plane ticket so that I'd go hang out with his old crew. Everything else is in exchange for household labor (if you want me to spend the time I would otherwise spend working cooking for you, you buy the ingredients) or trading off who picks up dinner tab.

But mostly I think that having an income of -35k vs. an income of -70k doesn't take someone out of the " poor " category.

omg I just found THE PERFECT FUCKING CASE for this motion we're filing. right holding, right language/issue, right jurisdiction. usually I can't get all three so cleanly. this made my day.

It seems like you could have said to your boyfriend, if he wasn't already joking, "haha I have to a of debt and am only working 10 weeks this year"...

Nice dude. I thought I had one like that last week, but it turned out there was an amendment to the statute after the case I found so it turned out to be pretty much useless.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
