Any more movement from King & Spalding Houston?

Has anyone heard from HB (Houston), JW (Houston), NRF (Houston/Dallas), or BB (Houston) recently?

I know NRF Dallas has made some offers to a few kids at my school. That was nearly 2 weeks ago.

Anybody hear from Kelly Hart?

Also know of some offers made by Kelly Hart this week.

Do you know how long the offers were after CBs for KHH?

Or what day they were made? As in, are they calling today or was it earlier this week?

The NRF Dallas offers that I know of were made two weeks ago Friday. Some, but not all, accepted.

Kelly Hart was earlier this week. About a week and a half or 2 weeks after CB's.

I haven't heard from JW either, and I'm equally frantic. These small summer class sizes are killing me.

Yep, it's been about three weeks since my BH CB. I don't know of any offers or dings. Looks like they're taking their sweet time. Meanwhile, I'm still looking for that second-half clerkship.

Actually, there may be hope for you. I got rejected within one week of my CB. Seems that a long wait may be good.

Different poster, but similar situation. Don't dings come via snail mail? Maybe the letter got lost or is still floating around out there somewhere.

However, look a few pages back, I think a poster said he knows someone who got an offer a few weeks after their interview.

Not to sound like a prick, but I have a tough decision between two firms I really liked in Dallas - Haynes and Boone, Thompson & Knight. Ultimately, I want to be a partner in a firm and most likely a litigator. Is the opportunity to be partner that much better at TK over HayBoo? Any word on one's hours being much more manageable, or would we say pretty comparable? The people at both were great, and I felt like I fit in at both very well. I feel really torn.

Not a prick at all. I'm between two firms as well. In your case I think it's a toss up. Both have decent partner chances and neither is great for litigation (being honest). Both are fantastic firms, I hard a really hard time saying no to HB. I would go where u like the people better. If equal then I would do HB for corp and TK for lit probably....unless you want white collar, then HB all the way

I haven't. I had my CB last week. They said they were finishing up callback this week and would probably let people know next week. Hope that helps.

Baker Donelson is conducting first round interviews at U of H tomorrow, so I think they are just slower in the process.

I was in a similar situation and ultimately decided on going with HayBoo. For me I tried to put aside my tendency to compulsively analyzes and quantify which firms are "better" and go with what felt right. I have a friend at HayBoo (mid-level associate) who is extremely happy with the work life balance compared to her friends at peers at other Dallas firms.

What firms in TX actually do second-half clerkships? It seems like the number gets smaller every year.

More firms in Houston do second-half clerkships (e.g., AK, Bracewell, Baker Hostetler), but there are others that I don't have listed here.

Other firms that I know of that do 2nd half in non-Houston locations: Dentons (Dallas), Bickel & Brewer (Dallas), mckool smith (Dallas), Andrews Kurth (Dallas), Gardere (Dallas), Hartline Dacus (Dallas - firm w/ under 150 atty's), Littler Mendelson (Dallas), Looper Reed (Dallas), Cox Smith Mattews (San Antonio), Fish & Richardson (Dallas), and Morgan Lewis (Dallas).

It does seem that fewer and fewer firms are doing 2nd-half programs, thus making it more competitive to get looks at these firms. In my interviewing experience, it seemed that more and more TX firms were open to having students do the full summer, or at least an 8-week or 10-week program. It seems as more and more "coastal-based" firms come into Texas, the trend is shifting from splitting to firms having longer programs, likely hastened by economics (firms don't want to spend large amounts of money on someone who isn't going to join the firm) and hiring focus shifting from quantity to quality (and increasing the offer percentage to the fewer number of people in the SA program).

I ended up at a firm that did a 10-week program, and they expressly said that they did not like people splitting, and only would shorten it from 10 weeks to 8 weeks if you had a 1L clerkship that you had to return to for a few weeks at the end of the summer to keep your offer open there.

I was at HayBoo this summer and had a friend at TK. I absolutely loved everyone at HB, and to my great surprise, my friend really didn't like the culture at TK (the people there seemed nice during my interviews).
