I also would like advice on this.Jsa725 wrote:To the past PLIPers that scored interviews/ CB's from non-PS firms whose hospitality suites you visited: any advice as to what you did to score an interview/CB from the hospitality suite hustle?
Also, how crowded do these hospitality suites get?

Re: Loyola PLIP 2013 Thread: ITT we share interview tips
Went to two of these in NYC, one was very nice, not too crowded, people cordial, civil conversation. The other was a nightmare, like refugees cramming onto the last ship out. And the conversation? Try imagining having a civil conversation with people on a crowded NYC subway. I'm sure I ruined a couple suits by spilling half my drink each time. Some idiot (nice looking chick) smeared her dip on my jacket. In the end, the atmosphere seemed so desperate, really sucked. Too bad, because it's one of my target firms, and Now I can't refer to that incident during my screening interview.Anonymous User wrote:I also would like advice on this.Jsa725 wrote:To the past PLIPers that scored interviews/ CB's from non-PS firms whose hospitality suites you visited: any advice as to what you did to score an interview/CB from the hospitality suite hustle?

By the way, last I heard, the chick who smeared dip on me got a CB. It's brutal out there.

Participants lower, and ppl with interviews proportionally lower. Do we have stats on # of employers? (I hope it['s the same as last year, b/c this means fewer of us to choose from.Jsa725 wrote:Both are less... But the # w/ an interview was like 700+ last yearJimbo_Jones wrote:Few hundred less applicants or students w/ at least one interview?

Starting to think so. Starting to considering arming myself with dip at PLIP. Might give me luck.chem wrote:Intentionally?Anonymous User wrote:Went to two of these in NYC, one was very nice, not too crowded, people cordial, civil conversation. I was disappointed to see the "deal" on hotel rooms was actually just the going rate at that hotel.

I booked a room under the group rate and it was 179/ night plus tax. That was cheaper than the going rate. Make sure you check that the code is entered into the group rate box.Nammertat wrote:LOL This is getting out of control.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Starting to think so. Does anyone know if there is lunch provided or a place where we can grab a quick bite to eat? A 50 min break for lunch isn't much time...

There are quick places within walking distance (I did Jimmy John's one day), and if you need to eat quickly there was a hot dog cart in the main area.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know if there is lunch provided or a place where we can grab a quick bite to eat? 26/3. EE, T-14
Can someone with experience talk about how to approach "firmwide" interviews? How do the recruiters bring up location preferences? How should I communicate my preferences? I would like to work in either NY or SF/SV.

Re: Loyola PLIP 2013 Thread: ITT we share interview tips
Could be just not what the firm was looking for at the time.
Smaller firms may be very specific as to what position they are hiring for, thus GPA and School Ranking may not be their top priority.
If I was an employer, I may also hesitate providing interview slots for someone who's too qualified and definitely getting positions at other places and thus wasting the limited interview slots.
*May be the screener is graduate from your school?
*Or it's a firm that care about soft factors?
I wish I knew the answer to this too.

Hi to Rising 3L's & Others who've Gone Through This:
Could give us neubies examples of some nightmare questions you've been asked by a screener at PLIP? (ie. questions that were just plain hard, or questions posed in such a way by screens who were just plain dicks). Sound off so that we may benefit from your wisdom.

Re: Loyola PLIP 2013 Thread: ITT we share interview tips
if a firm lists multiple names under the "interviewer" section, does that mean i'll have multiple people interviewing me at the same time?
also, is it fine to check out the interviewer's linkedin page? i know with linkedin, people know who viewed their profile and didn't want to come off seeming "stalker-like."
