I don't think they were contacted. That is, my references didn't write to tell me.Anonymous User wrote:well, it doesn't seem like the branches are interviewing all of the finalists, so at least we're competing against a smaller pool. So the other anonymous guy isn't being interviewed by the OIL either? Guess it doesn't matter since knowing won't change anything, but still.

What is sad is the rampant (mis)use of the anonymous function in this thread. I seriously doubt all of you are hiding something from your firms.

Re: DOJ SLIP 2010
I would much rather the people in this thread use the anon posting feature if it's what makes them comfortable enough to provide information, rather than they not post at all because of some fear of having to do so under their regular usernames. It's not like you're going to "know" them any better by a screen name anyway Danteshek, so I don't understand what your issue with it really is.

As I just said, let's not discuss this here. Next person to continue this gets the hammer.hmlee wrote:I would much rather the people in this thread use the anon posting feature if it's what makes them comfortable enough to provide information, rather than they not post at all because of some fear of having to do so under their regular usernames. (I'm one of the posters who interviewed above.) If it makes you feel any better, I was told at the time (mid-week) that they had just started the interview process.Anonymous User wrote:Damn. Civil Division finalist, still haven't heard anything. Losing hope.

It's weird for me to see all these other divisions taking so long. I wonder why the DC branches are behind.

New here -- I interviewed with DC Antitrust in early October. I *just* checked my status and it says finalist. Does this mean anything? Thanks for taking the time to read and/or answer.

Do phone calls to references typically come before or after interviews?

Called Civil Division SLIP contact:
If you have been designated as a "finalist", you've made it further in the process from "Selected for further consideration." However, being a finalist doesnt mean you'll be getting an offer--another round of cuts are going to be made. At this point, references are being contacted and further evaluations are still being made. Some, but not all, civil division branches have begun issuing offers. They hope to have all decisions out within this month and the next.
You're welcome.
