We should have a thread like that.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
I understand that the callback time period for OCI is relatively short (about 1-3 days), but what about non OCI screening interviews? Is the time period longer for a callback? I had a screening interview on Friday with one of my favorite firms. 16 OCI interviews starting next week. I'm so nervous... it's killing me!

t20
Top 20%, Law Review
6 interviews, at least 3 more to go w/ another round of OCI yet to be doled out
No callbacks, 3 rejections
Targeting DC and Chicago, for the most part.
I'm beginning to realize how big of a mistake it was for me to not focus on more regional mid-sized markets. Ugh. For now, those of us in the "would normally have no problems but..." group are just holding on, hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.

T20 school
Top 5%, Law Review
18 Screening Interviews
8 Callbacks, 2 Rejections, 8 still waiting - about four of these are most likely rejections, the other four are possibilities.

Top 20 school, GPA just above the common GPA cutoff for my school (roughly top 1/3), secondary journal, targeting Los Angeles.
5 interviews, 2 callbacks so far.
One callback is from a mid v100 and the other is a mid-size California only firm. No rejections yet (although they could very well be in the mail).

Re: OCI callbacks thread
OCI at my T-14 is going on. We're part way through it, and a friend of mine talked with someone from the career center. She told me that the person from the career center told her that outside of a few outliers where people had personal connections already, the only people who were getting immediate call backs were the 3.8+ folks.
I'm sure that was something of an exageration (I hope).
Hopefully more callbacks will come when the firms figure out their needs.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
I don't think you should panic quite yet if you haven't heard back after 1-3 days. I did OCI last year, and callbacks came in anywhere from the same day to almost two weeks later. In the current climate, firms may wait even longer before letting you know either way, keeping their options open.I understand that the callback time period for OCI is relatively short (about 1-3 days), but what about non OCI screening interviews? Is the time period longer for a callback? I had a screening interview on Friday with one of my favorite firms. 16 OCI interviews starting next week. I'm so nervous... it's killing me!

At Cornell (ours ended last week), only the ppl in top 10% +LR heard last week (for the most part). So, while it might be a slight exageration, it is not far off from the truth.Anonymous User wrote:OCI at my T-14 is going on. Did you talk to Hess/DeRosa to find this out? I've been kinda worried b/c of the lack of callbacks so far (combined with a few actual rejections)Anonymous User wrote:At Cornell (ours ended last week), only the ppl in top 10% +LR heard last week (for the most part). No. It was just what I observed among my friends (many are on LR).

Top 10% + LR at T10. I interviewed with 8 firms yesterday and received 3 callback offers today. Obviously some of these firms are acting quickly. On the other hand, I was warned by one firm that they wouldn't really know who they were looking to callback until the end of the week.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
CLS - transfer. one callback. (top 100 firm)
From what I have witnessed, the people getting callbacks either did extremely well at Columbia or have some special skill (Russian, worked in banking, etc.). Most of the transfers I have spoken with have at least one callback, but not all of them. I would not want to be in the bottom half at Columbia right now.
And yes, I wish I had a completely different list of firms. Honestly, I could have been as articulate as MLK and still had no shot at certain places. Sure, it was nice to have a bunch of interviews (26 or so), but many were a waste of time. Not only does the sheer number of interviews become tiring, but I didn't do as much research on the firms I (in retrospect) had a legitimate shot at.
My advice, unless you are the best of the best, is to ignore most of the top firms, and take the time to research some secondary market/regional firms.
Also, I don't regret my decision to transfer. If I get an offer eventually, great. If not, I'll work on getting a government job that will be plenty interesting.
I think that some CLS feel a sense of entitlement and believe they deserve certain jobs, but that just isn't the case this year. If you take that attitude, you will undoubtably be disappointed.

Callback at a V5. Transfer student at CCN. Pretty shocked. Don't know how I'm going to turn it into an offer, but I'll work my butt off.

It's probably Davis Polk - they seem to like transfers. I have talked to four or five people with callbacks.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
Also CCN transfer student here. As of right now, have 4 call backs. Unfortunately, I think I got dinged from DPW, which I thought I might have a decent shot at.

Simpson Thacher, Ropes & Gray, Drinker Biddle, & Goodwin Proctor have all at least started making callback offers.

At columbia? STB and Ropes were still doing interviews today at NYU. I can't imagine they've started calling back NYUers at this point.Anonymous User wrote:Simpson Thacher, Ropes & Gray, Drinker Biddle, & Goodwin Proctor have all at least started making callback offers.
