Top 1/3 at Ohio State. When I struck out at OCI, the extent of what CS said they could do was review my resume and advise me to reach out to any attorney friends and family that could stick their neck out for me, super good advice for a 1st gen attorney. Also told me to not blanket cold apply to firms for 2L summer.

After I ignored them and hustled my way into a 2L summer by blanket applying, CS sent me 5 emails and physically waited by my locker to get me to report my position so the school could boost its numbers.

Still amazed at the difference between my undergrad business CS and law school CS.

At NDLS, mixed bag - if you want a clerkship or public interest, beyond amazing, but pretty shit for firm advice and just out of touch with current hiring practices. Tbh talking to upperclassmen has been 1000x more useful than CDO but I'm guessing that's how it is at most law schools.

I have heard the exact opposite: firm recruiting is all right, but clerkship office only cares about candidates that are in at least one of the following (preference for those in all three groups) of Fed Soc/Religious Liberty Initiative/Clinic/Law Review, and the more right-leaning candidates are more highly regarded. If you actually hear who has secured clerkships at the NDLS, they're all pretty much your typical vanilla Political Science/Anthropology/English undergrad majors with no notable work or extracurricular experience otherwise with the exception of their involvement in the aforementioned organizations. Certain individuals may possess good grades, but are generally unremarkable in other regards. This is what sets back NDLS compared to other law schools - they can't field any other candidates but those described above.
