Re: DOJ Honors 2015-16 Megathread
Has anyone heard from references inside of DOJ who have been contacted since we submitted our apps? I am trying to figure out if that does happen before interview selections are made. I am just obsessing about this and want some insight!

Pretty sure I've read elsewhere that it varies by section. Some contact references before interviews, but most do it after.

Yeah, I just feel like after submitting our applications, it is now a black hole and it is killing me!

I mean, you know when you're going to hear about interviews and it's barely over a week from now, so that actually seems a lot less black hole-y than a lot of applications.

Re: DOJ Honors 2015-16 Megathread
Good luck everyone. I was in the last cycle and currently a new honors attorney. It was stressful. If ya'll are curious about the dates, you can search for the last DOJ thread. We created a spreadsheet with everyone's information and dates for interviews and offers across all the component. I'm on mobile now and can't link the the spreadsheet - it should be on the previous thread.
To give an idea, here was my schedule for the previous DOJ honors cycle:
9/29/2014 - interview invite
10/24/2014 - interview in DC; first week
11/20/2014 - acceptance; was asked to rank geographical preferences
12/20/2014 - got assigned to the office
8/2015 - started my first day with the DOJ
For anonymity, I will not be disclosing my component given that my identity would be disclosed if I do.
Good luck, enjoy and try not to refresh the applicant website too much while you wait!

If government shut down next week, expect delays in interview invites and hiring schedule.

Re: DOJ Honors 2015-16 Megathread
I'm interning at an agency now and most people are spending a lot of time getting everything in order in case they're furloughed. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the honors programs are just holding off on scheduling interviews until this problem is fixed.Anonymous User wrote:If government shut down next week, expect delays in interview invites and hiring schedule.

"We post online updates first, which changes the applicant's status to 'selected for interview.' Those updates should start posting on September 29th. The online update does not indicate which component or components selected the applicant."Anonymous User wrote:Theyre not supposed to come out until tomorrow right? chillax, people.

Based on last year, the selected for an interview was posted online around 1pm. I feel like I might vomit!

Given my performance in gov honors applications so far, I'm not holding my breath.

Re: DOJ Honors 2015-16 Megathread
I applied for the honors program two years ago and didn't get selected for an interview. Now, whenever I refresh the page to check the status of this year's application, the first thing I read is the "not selected for an interview" notification leftover from my last application. Sends a little jolt of terror through me every time.

Omg this guy who replied just today in the community thread had me thinking I was toast. Said the last post was today, so I assumed for a sec that my lack of status change was bad news.

My status was just updated to "selected for interview". Looks like they're still issuing updates (or maybe just starting to). Good luck everyone!
