How many associates were there pre-merger? I heard on ATL that only 225 are getting offers.

Friendly reminder that just a few years ago Bingham had 1000+ lawyers

That isn't as bad as I had thought. But that's still 40% getting Bingham'd. Any word on severance packages or any trends on who got the offer and who didn't.Anonymous User wrote:369Desert Fox wrote:How many associates were there pre-merger? I heard on ATL that only 225 are getting offers.

No criteria for the decisions was announced from above. We heard rumors that low billers got cut. I am in a busy section in a major office.Desert Fox wrote:That isn't as bad as I had thought. Still trying to piece it all together, but it seems like litigation and some smaller (slow) practices were hit much harder at both the partner and the associate level. I don't know of any corporate groups that lost anyone.Anonymous User wrote: Any word on which offices are getting hit harder than others as far as associate offers?

I think that it's possible to know who is joining Morgan Lewis.
The ones that are joining the Morgan have a sentence saying "As of November 24, 2014 practicing with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP."
It seems a good number of associates joined Morgan.

I have a friend who summered at Bingham last summer (summer 2013), but recently failed the bar. He was supposed to start at Bingham in January 2015, but then this shit-show happened. Any idea what's going to happen to him?

2/32 NY associates might be feeling a bit uncomfortable today (though it seems more likely they chose to go with partners to other firms considering the number, unless they're awful).mmelittlechicken wrote:wow that must be super awkward for the associates who got discardedAnonymous User wrote:I think that it's possible to know who is joining Morgan Lewis.

Re: What is happening with Bingham Associates?
He should be speaking with Morgan Lewis's legal personnel department (as they have committed to hiring all of Bingham's incoming associates), but that does not sound like a good situation to be in.Anonymous User wrote:I have a friend who summered at Bingham last summer (summer 2013), but recently failed the bar. I can understand not taking the bar too seriously though. After all, he was Bingham secure
