Btw to put the hours in perspective: I has lunch with friend today in finance. His days are 6am-10/11pm Monday-Friday with some weekend work. So he puts in 100+ hour weeks as a matter of course for less than 1st year big law salary (although obv financial upside is higher).
First year.

So what, he is dumber than me then. And he probably doesn't have much debt either, so he can easily quit.

Even plantation slaves only worked from sun up to sundown. And they got sundays off.
This is solid dfthreading

DF I hope they never staff u on cases so this can continue

I love how you guys are accusing him of being useless and he told us all some valuable info in this thread alone

(recruiting people know when you're talking about their firms. Don't be stupid.)

DF should be the only poster in legal employment.

DF threading seems like the kind of thing only a 1L could find problematic.

I am in no way advocating a sunny view of biglaw, but this is just not the only way to go about educating people, which this site has done for many people in a much less douchey way.
TLS hivemind is very very ignorant about most things. It's good enough to teach you how to LSAT and how to get into law school. But after that it's not very smart.
But you are one first year (second year) biglawyer. You have a certain experience, a certain perspective, that some will inevitably share. Your perspective is valuable as one perspective. But the hivemind you speak of has become you. Any deviations from your dogma is ridiculed as either a lie or an exception. It's just weird to watch a whole host or other, often quality, posters, many of whom have no experience in biglaw, parrot you on every thread now. It's just not a quality discussion and I think you know that. I think you see this odd power you've attained and are enjoying it. So enjoy away.
People are amazingly bad at psychoanalyzing DF. It brings me so much joy.

Why are you allowing Desert Fox to keep trolling the Legal Employment boards? Seriously, wtf mods, put an end to this shit already. People say he is providing valuable knowledge (maybe every 20 posts or so...) but none of it is anything new. These forums have a wealth of information on biglaw. This is just a stupid attempt to be funny/troll/vent/draw attention to himself.

Seriously, there are couple sensible and fair things that could be done here.
1) Move all of these numerous DF threads to the lounge where they belong;
2) Make DF consolidate all of his "valuable" biglaw knowledge into a single thread in the Legal Employment Forums, where he can post his heart away and hopefully answer questions people have.

I'm not trying to come across as a DF hater, I'm merely claiming that his numerous threads are adding very little value and he just keeps on making them...that should belong in the lounge or a single thread, or both.

C'mon mods, there are others of us that would like to see a more efficient TLS where the forums aren't getting clogged with all of these damn threads. He makes a new one as soon as an old one is no longer at the top of the forums list.

Honestly the concern-trolling over what DF is doing to the precious discourse in the on-topics is way more cluttery and annoying than anything DF himself does. If you snowflakes have an issue with it you should raise it here where we might actually see it/respond/engage with you. Though I have a sneaking suspicion that some of you just enjoy whining into the void.

Ok, but could you blame them? Bonuses were crazy, No cold offers, Lathaming wasn't a verb and exit options were plentiful. Pre-crash must have been awesome.

Seriously? You're a fucking moron and the whole reason this site has gone to shit. The site needs real moderators. Apparently you idiots don't understand what the word means.

Swing the banhammer all you want, you people have ruined what Ken created and tried to do for us well-meaning law students/legal professionals, and I could care less anymore. Nevertheless it's sad, this site used to have some goddamn integrity and value.

Any complaints about moderation should be in the mod q&a thread. If you feel someone has violated a forum rule, whether by abusing anon or trolling or anything else, you should use the report feature. Failure to heed these two warnings, including responding to this warning in this thread rather than the mod q&a thread, will result in bans.

And for at least one year after. We were SHOCKED in fall 2009 when people at T14's weren't getting offers.

Remember, it was TLS policy for YEARS that you couldn't post bad news about the economy. In fact, I suspect you policed that policy for some time.
