how do you know it was an alternate?Anonymous User wrote:Willkie just went up under "invitations", and I was able to sign up for cleary (but only Cleary for some reason). Also I can confirm that "invitations" includes alternates. I just got an alternate from clifford chance, and it had been in invitations.
ETA: looks like they're releasing interviews one at a time and in alphabetical order.

What does it mean when a firm comes up under the "waitlist" option but is pending otherwise?

From what I can tell, it only means you haven't had an invitation post visibly.

No, it doesn't really mean much of anything. If you're an alternate, you should see it under "with invitations." Also, Cravath is open to signups now.Anonymous User wrote:Meaning that I'm on the waitlist? What the shit, Goodwin? You are one of the few (only?) firms to give a bonus to JD/MBAs, and I didn't even get an alternate?

How often do alternates turn into screeners? 10% of the time?

Re: SEMW 2014
Significantly more frequently than that. It varies obviously. Some people will be higher on the list than others, but it's definitely more than 10% on average (I'd guess it's in the 30-50% range). Plenty of interviews will be turned down over the next couple of weeks because 1) some people will have too many interviews to do in one day, and 2) people who are getting tons of interviews are also likely to transfer.Anonymous User wrote:How often do alternates turn into screeners? 10% of the time?

Has Proskauer opened up for anyone? It's showing under "with invitations" for me, but it looks like they skipped it or something because Paul Weiss and Seward are both up for me.

mine aren't coming through alphabetically, that was likely a coincidence for the person above.

anyone know how alternates work? Is it just a wait list so when someone drops it goes in order or do you have to do anything else?

Re: SEMW 2014
Shit, for the NYC one I have 3 acceptances, 6 alternates, and 1 pending but listed under invite.
Would love for at least 2 or 3 or those alternates to turn into acceptances.

With 6 alternates you're probably decently high up on at least a couple of those lists. I'd be shocked if you didn't convert at least a couple.Anonymous User wrote:Shit, for the NYC one I have 3 acceptances, 6 alternates, and 1 pending but listed under invite.

Is 15 even possible to do?Anonymous User wrote:15 interviews, 2 alternates. Proskauer still pending for me in "with invites," but I'm thinking I didn't get it, and honestly don't think I could fit any more in wtihout having way too many in a row thanks to the apparent 1020 and 300 breaks.

There will be a couple rough patches. 16 made it a bit rough, I'm going to have one stretch of 4 back to back and 2 of 3 back to back. I might try to drop Olshan, dunno what I was thinking when I accepted that.

Is there anyway to decline these? Or do we just not accept them until the time runs out?
Weil alternate. Kirkland, Davis Polk, Proskauer, Jones Day, Drinker DC, Baker McKenzie DC.
