Several employers have been added to DC SEMW. Still only three firms though...

when employers say they want "Journal or Moot Court", is the moot court portion only relevant to students from schools where 1Ls participate in moot court teams? Or does forthcoming Wiley Rutledge participation count as "moot court" for resume purposes?

I mean, you probably could, but I don't see much value in it. Especially if you have work experience or anything else on the resume. Without some sort of acomplishment (finalist, semi-finalist) or being able to talk about what you learned, it's not a great use of space. All you can say about it is "yea, I signed up." It's not even like a journal where you actually had to do something to get on it; and it serves no signaling effect to an employer. If you're on a journal, definitely put that.cusenation wrote:but can we put it on our resume for OCI before it actually happens?hoos89 wrote:Pretty sure Wiley Rutledge counts

Yeah that's what I was confused about...i didn't see what the point of adding it was since all we did was add it to our schedule on webstac lolWheatThins wrote:I mean, you probably could, but I don't see much value in it. I would put it down. It's one thing firms are looking for. It may not help you a ton, but it certainly won't hurt you. True you haven't done anything yet but it still is an experience that you will have before you start working.

I think it's fair to talk about mass mail strategies and success in here. It should be a major part of everyone's job search strategy.Anonymous User wrote:My mistake. Twas thru mass mail. Forgot that this was only for oci firms
Also, I'm guessing Goulston & Storrs (not an acronym I've heard, but I looked it up on the nlj 250)

Do we have access to the nlj250, or does that require a subscription?hoos89 wrote:I looked it up on the nlj 250)

The list is available on other sites. Just look up "list of largest law firms"

Don't worry about that. Screeners from mass-mail will generally be phone or Skype, unless you volunteer that you will be in town. If you get a callback from that, it should be paid for. If they just ask you to come in straight away, it should be a full interview (i.e. offer is next step), and they may or may not pay for that. Regardless, I wouldn't worry about getting there at this point. Figure that out if/when you get the interview invitation.sublime wrote:Should we only mass mail cities that we would be able to get to for a screener on our own? Or do they do just a cb, or a long distance screener, or something else?

Any insight our two NYC off-campus programs? Going to bid on both, but there is some overlap in firms attending.
Being on the 1st and the 4th of August - I guess it makes sense to plan to stay in the city during the days in between, and try to schedule some mass mailings for that tiime?

That was my plan. You could always decline some screeners if there are overlaps, but for now I would definitely just bid on both and plan on being there both daysWheatThins wrote:Any insight our two NYC off-campus programs? Going to bid on both, but there is some overlap in firms attending.

Re: WUSTL OCI/EIW 2014
To be clear about overlaps: if you bid on eg Sul Crom at both NYC programs, and if Sul Crom wants to interview you, they will pick which day they want to interview you. It would be unusual for you to get two interview invitations from the same office of the same firm.
As a side note on strategy, I would suggest bidding all of the overlap firms solely on Midwest Cali if you have elite credentials and are attending both programs because there is a limit to how many interviews you can do in a day.
ETA: Atlanta is up on SEMW

Re: Goulston. Sorry about the confusion. Met with them in May based on my Fall credentials, sent them updated resume after journal offers were out. CB invite came after
Also, screener invite from Choate just now. Sent them a direct application because I didn't know they were participating in New England Day

Re: WUSTL OCI/EIW 2014
for the two NYC programs, once you get an interview, try and contact them to move it to the day that you have the majority of your interviews. many can be flexible in that respect.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
