Douchebags drive M3s. Buy a ZR1:

Then, take it to the Nürburgring and push it to the max. YOLO, right?

For 1/20 to 1/10 the price of that car you can get a bike that accelerates faster and has a higher top speed, and also two wheels. FOUR WHEELS BAD TWO WHEELS GOOD.

Don't know about you, but there's just something that gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling about beating 1000cc+ sport bikes in something with four wheelsthesealocust wrote:For 1/20 to 1/10 the price of that car you can get a bike that accelerates faster and has a higher top speed, and also two wheels. Hyperbole, meet KidStuddi.KidStuddi wrote:Hope you're better at investing than you are accounting, because your depreciation skills are so not GAAP compliant. There isn't a BMW in existence that loses 75% of its liquidation value in six months. Certainly not the M5 or M3 OP was talking about. Unless he drove it into a tree. Without insurance. Regardless of my exaggeration, I think most rational people agree that buying an 80K car when you are 200K in debt at 6-8% interest is really dumb, especially when the likelihood is that your high salary will be gone five years down the road.

I actually know very little about cars; what kind of 4-wheeler can do that? Stock 1000cc bikes should be capable of 0-60 in under 3 seconds standing on their heads with top speeds near 200 mph.XxSpyKEx wrote:Don't know about you, but there's just something that gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling about beating 1000cc+ sport bikes in something with four wheelsthesealocust wrote:For 1/20 to 1/10 the price of that car you can get a bike that accelerates faster and has a higher top speed, and also two wheels. You can get a pretty good handle on how much a car will depreciate by looking at its leasing rates. Leases utilize a money factor instead of an interest rate (same thing basically) which is much lower than the equivalent interest rate on a purchase (think roughly 1.5% vs. 4-5%).
Leasing would also be the ultimate faux YOLO.

Surprisingly, a Tesla Roadster can do 0-60 in about 3 seconds. Go green.thesealocust wrote:I actually know very little about cars; what kind of 4-wheeler can do that? That's not surprising at all; the coolest part of electric motors is the flat torque.

I don't think many people can do 0-60 in a bike in under 3 seconds.. It's a challenge to keep the front wheel down on fast bikes. The more standard way of measuring how fast something is 1/4 miles times. A stock 1000cc sports bike, with a really good driver, is typically capable of running the 1/4 miles somewhere in the high 10 second range (depending on the bike). You can get a car into the low 10s with fuel injection, sometimes even the 9s, while still being streetable. Obviously, the bike is a lot faster on the open road though, since it's smaller and lighter. (That is, you can easily get a bike over 185+ mph on the highway in a city while still being somewhat safe (for that speed); whereas, a 185+ in a car on the highway in a city is insane.) From the perspective, I suppose a sports bike fits OP's YOLO lifestyle a little better.* I'd recommend a busa if he wants to go that route though.thesealocust wrote:I actually know very little about cars; what kind of 4-wheeler can do that? The busa is kinda bubbly and not blingy enough though. We're talking a megabucks job, I'd say shell out for something like this:

You won't miss the extra CCs (and will enjoy the extra torque), and mmmm pretty.
brb calculating insurance payments on an 848.

I really don't know what I'm talking about, but google suggests they're quite a bit faster. Here's somebody claiming his stock CBR 1000 ran a quarter mile in 10.20 seconds: http://www.fireblades.org/forums/drag-r ... times.htmlXxSpyKEx wrote:A stock 1000cc sports bike, with a really good driver, is typically capable of running the 1/4 miles somewhere in the high 10 second range (depending on the bike)

I plan to YOLO the shit out of biglaw by putting my dog on some of that expensive ass Evo dog food and getting a neck massage twice a month. Everything else goes to loans and building a 6-mo. nest egg/401k. I'll drive my 4-door sedan till it dies or gets so messed up it's unprofessional to drive.
