What layoffs? I had heard that a lot of partners were leaving; I hadn't heard about layoffs.Anonymous User wrote:Anybody hear anything about Husch?
I know about the layoffs in STL, but anybody know how big their KC SA class will be?

Husch Blackwell has laid off 25 employees, including “a handful” in St. Louis, the law firm said Wednesday.

No, SLS starting salary is still a base $105k in KC. Not sure why the discrepancy for summer pay.Anonymous User wrote:I realize this is a bit of a necro, but not sure where else to ask. Just got an offer for Stinson Leonard Street in KC, and I see that if their Summer pay is prorated Associate salary, it comes out to $90k starting. NALP has salary listed for the Minneapolis office ($110k) and the only other information I could find was an article from 2011 that had Stinson Morrison Hecker's starting salary at $105k.
Is it true that their starting salary has dropped by $15k in three years? Or is their Summer compensation just not actually a prorated salary?

The KCBJ report is typically more responsive to change than NALP reports in this market.
Edit - what the hell, while I'm here: Anyone know any area firms that no-offered?

From what I heard (albeit from the firm itself), SLS offered all of its summers this last cycle. Haven't heard about any of the other big(ger) firms in KC.

So say if someone had no ties to KC but went to WUSTL/UIUC/ND they would have a pretty hard time

Re: Kansas City Legal Market
that person would have basically no shot at a firm job in KC without ties (and top grades)

This is the anon with the SLS offer. I have no ties to KC other than the fact that I've been there a couple of times and I'm from a UIUC/ND/UM/UI. Granted, there are a lot of variables that go into these firms' hiring decisions, but don't worry about closed doors until a firm closes it for you.Callsam wrote:So say if someone had no ties to KC but went to WUSTL/UIUC/ND they would have a pretty hard time
