Re: V10 Associate Taking Questions
From what I have heard, M&A was affected by the financial crisis: less mergers, less deals...How did it affect the amount of work you have? Did the firm downsize a little?

None. Firm downsized in the peak of the crisis, but is now exceeding pre-recession levels. We're busier than ever and I really wish we'd hire more people.Anonymous User wrote:From what I have heard, M&A was affected by the financial crisis: less mergers, less deals...How did it affect the amount of work you have? Not nearly as much as being in the top 5% of your class.bingbang1025 wrote:attending a t-25 in the fall. how much will 2 years in consulting and finance help me?
Unless you're not paying a dime for that degree, I'd pursue another career path. Don't mean to sound elitist, but job market isn't spectacular even for top 10 law school grads.

Yup, know it's going to be hard. Lucky enough to have gotten around $70k in schollys and another $35k in support from my parents. I also have $20k saved myself. I'll take $90k in debt for a law degree.Anonymous User wrote:Not nearly as much as being in the top 5% of your class.bingbang1025 wrote:attending a t-25 in the fall. how much will 2 years in consulting and finance help me?

Re: V10 Associate Taking Questions
How hard is it to get into the M&A group at your firm, provided you express an interest, are enthusiastic, do good work over the summer, etc.?
How much sleep do you get on average?
How many nights of <3 hours sleep due to work have you had in the last 6 months?
Is there any lay prestige? Are people impressed when you say I did ABC deal working at X elite mega law firm?
Is there a certain personality type that self selects into M&A that you notice compared to other practice groups?
