Given that according to recent big law placements, California has 4 law schools inside the top 16 law schools for big law placement, I would say that relatively speaking, CA is doing pretty well. I don't know where you go to school, but outside of maybe, NY, you aren't seeing better numbers for big law (statewide) than CA.
Everywhere is a bloodbath, if you come in thinking that big law is a sure thing.
