It's a post clerkship bonus (which are typically 50k anyway), and ATL said it was restricted to COA clerks in 2007.

Don't blame the legal profession as a whole cause you thought by going to a TTT shitlaw degree mill you would join the upper crust of society.

Your right there are alot of low lifes in the legal profession unfortunately. But in terms of overall prestige, only medicine has more lay prestige. Parents don't tell their kids they want them to grow up to be i-bankers or hedge fund managers, they tell their kids they want them to grow up and be doctors or lawyers.

Sure no one knows what Williams & Connolly is, but when you pull up in a porsche convertible with a $1,000 suit and a rolex, people get the idea that your a big shot. I wouldn't worry to much about comparing oneself to finance guys or CEO's. I think making more money than 99.9% of the rest of humanity should be good enough for most people.

If you are considering litigation boutiques in Texas, you should also look at mckool smith. While they are known for their IP work, they do much more than that. Also, they make a point to give young associates tons of experience right out of the gate. I know several associates there who have several depositions and presented oral arguments at Markman hearings within the first 1-2 years at the firm. Per their website, first year compensation is $177,500 (including signing bonus). It looks like they have offices in Texas, NYC, California, and DC.

I came across Vault specialty rankings for lit boutiques. While I'm not sure how meaningful the rankings are, they at least list several of the firms that many would consider to be the best:

I know this is super old, but it does raise the question of what we'd call a "lit boutique." Traditional wisdom would suggest Boies Schiller, Quinn, MTO and Irell fall outside that category, whereas McKool, Susman, Keker, Kellogg Huber, ect. would fall within.

tl;dr of thread, it OP was ultimately choosing between Quinn and Boies, they were never looking at lit boutiques and this entire self-promotion was totally unnecessary
