Once you get outside of the Chicago elite (i.e. Kirkland, Sidley, Latham, Skadden, and Mayer), the Chicago market is turning into a bloodbath.yellowjacket2012 wrote:17 callbacks so far, all v50 except one boutique, good grades at northwestern, at boalt now, bs/ms in EE

Thanks dude, will miss Northwestern tremendously - very, very different student bodies, I have heard from a couple of NU XEs (insert any type of engineering here) that Loyola was a great source of callbacks.chadwick218 wrote:Congrats. I have a couple of other friends at NU who are EEs are are collecting callback offers (sad to see you go ... I knew there had to be some reason that I hadn't seen you around). Amongst my friends, it really does seem to be feast or famine. I know a lot of people with 0 or 1 and a lot of people with 10+ callbacks.yellowjacket2012 wrote:17 callbacks so far, all v50 except one boutique, good grades at northwestern, at boalt now, bs/ms in EE

FWIW, all but two of my callbacks came prior to my jump to Boalt.

Re: OCI Satisfaction Poll
My friends at NU who are targeting NYC seem to be having a great deal more success than those targeting any other markets. With that being said, the majority of these people either worked on wallstreet or in finance/banking for a # of years before attending law school.radek wrote:Reading this: --LinkRemoved-- it doesn't seem like MVPB grads are having much luck with NYC. Columbia and NYU are cleaning up in NYC, comparatively speaking.

Re: OCI Satisfaction Poll
Did you have CA ties? As a CA transfer to CCN, I'm finding the CA market to actually be not that terrible...most of my callbacks are there.Anonymous User wrote:California was very tough this year, coming out of CLS without high grades. Very lucky to have what I did get in terms of callbacks, though I'm really worried about offers... probably should have slotted some NYC firms in the top third of my bid list and still had plenty of quality shots at California. Certainly something for next year's class to think about doing (and obviously don't count on OCS to suggest anything practically useful like that).
So I guess the consensus result is that your # of CBs really depends on ties to an area and WE. Grades only seem to go so far. I honestly feel horrible for the above median t10ers who have nothing.

TBF, you either don't like data or willfully ignore it. It's perfectly reasonable for top 5-10% + LR at a T1 to expect CB's.RVP11 wrote:TBF, this is about what you should have expected.Anonymous User wrote:T50, 5-10%, LR, 0 call backs.

I've gotten 2 CBs so far... both from interviews I saw as a "meh" performance by me (although I really liked the interviewers and firms for both) and certainly not my best. No dings yet.

CCN, top 10%, so far 12 cbs out of 20 screening interviews. Happy.

t20, top 5-10%, LR, mediocre interview skills, 10 callbacks. Feelin pretty good. Haven't experienced the DC letdown others have mentioned either, despite no ties.

Re: OCI Satisfaction Poll
T20 transfer (from a mid-TT with good-but-not-great stats)...28 screening interviews, 6 CBs/4 dings/18 still waiting...2 DC, 1 NY, and 3 CBs in my regional home market...1/3-1/2 are V100, the rest are regional firms that pay market...this has definitely been a more rewarding experience than I could have ever imagined 6 months ago

It seems michigan is getting killed relative to peer schools? Anyone else have any insight on this?

14 CBs, 6 dings, 1 offer at V10. (Only completed two CBs so far, and haven't heard back from one)

Re: OCI Satisfaction Poll
13 CBs (all v20 except for 2), 1 rejection, still waiting on a couple - also 1 offer in v50
all but 2 of the above in NY
NYU top 10% but don't let grades fool you, I know plenty of people just above median who are sociable that are also cleaning up.
Also OCS said that DC typically does callbacks later than NY (takes them longer to make decisions for whatever reason) so people waiting on DC firms, don't freak out just yet.

Re: OCI Satisfaction Poll
yeah, people are still getting cbs. however, i do think it's just that too many people bid on nyc so a lot of the new york bidders ended up with 10 interviews or so, while chicago/california/etc. ended up with 18+. it put people on a pretty uneven starting point, which is something that i think career services should address in the future.awesomepossum wrote:Patriot1208 wrote:It seems michigan is getting killed relative to peer schools? i bid solely on nyc, had around 10 interviews, and have 2 cbs so far. waiting to hear from the rest. based on these 2, my experience is that if i felt the interview went well, then it probably did go well. i knew when i felt the connection with my interviewer so to speak. and honestly, i feel very, very fortunate to have these cbs. ITE is definitely not over yet.

T14, top 25%, 3 CBs, all in Chicago.
Still waiting to hear from a couple, but definitely less than expected. The secondary market I targeted did not target me back.

Re: OCI Satisfaction Poll
HYS. Slightly below median.
Ended up receiving less total callbacks, but more of a higher quality that what I expected:
20 interviews. 5 callbacks (two V5s, one V10-15, one v20-25, one v50).

Wow...I know a lot of people who bid on NYC only, and none of them ended up with that few interviews. The average from what I've seen is closer to 15.Anonymous User wrote:yeah, people are still getting cbs. however, i do think it's just that too many people bid on nyc so a lot of the new york bidders ended up with 10 interviews or so, while chicago/california/etc. ended up with 18+. it put people on a pretty uneven starting point, which is something that i think career services should address in the future.awesomepossum wrote:Patriot1208 wrote:It seems michigan is getting killed relative to peer schools? the overall average is around 15, according to career services, but out of the group i know, people who bid on markets outside of nyc had wayyy more interviews.awesomepossum wrote:Wow...I know a lot of people who bid on NYC only, and none of them ended up with that few interviews.
