I don't mean to be a busybody, but stop doing stupid things.

1) 6 interviews gives you a real shot at a callback, why throw that away?
2) Don't bid on firms on the other side of the country where you have no connections at OCI.

I'm not sure if 6 interviews is worth the money to go. I should clarify that I do have connections in one of the places I applied.

I have 4 OCI-style opportunities. Many of the firms attending the Loyal Patent Fair are coming to one of the 3 other interview programs/OCI available to me. I ultimately chose to apply primarily to firms that I would not have access to via the other interview opportunities.

3) You can check the resume you submitted on the Symplicity page. Why didn't you fix it? Don't do that at OCI either. Especially since you can go to the reception and network your ass off.

I just didn't notice it. I'm usually very detailed.

Very real possibility that 6 interviews is more than you'll get at OCI if your T50 allows pre-screening, which almost all do. Don't turn down the opportunity.

I have no desire to apply or work at places like those. I'm targeting patent prosecution shops.

Sorry if I came off the wrong way. I'm not claiming that I am a superstar. I'm just in a personal situation that gives me some significant insight into my chances as to OCI and the other interview fairs available to me. Nothing is definite though!

Exciting! I feel like I've been waiting forever.

29 bids. 18 pre-selects. 1 alternate.

T20, EE/CS, WE, GPA top ~10%.

My GPA dropped big time after I submitted my bids, so I wonder how that'll affect getting callbacks.

wow we are almost the same person. T20, 17 pre-selects, EE, GPA ~10% which dropped after bidding. i do wonder what the best way to address that is.

Is anyone else thinking of dropping some of their preselect firms? I have 24 preselects, which I think is excessive. I think 12 or so interviews over a couple days is more reasonable.

Also, almost all of the firms I selected are Vault 250 firms. Is there any reason why that would be bad. I personally would want to work for a huge patent firm (Finnegan, Ropes and Gray, fish and richardson) [no, I don't have interviews at all of these], a vault 50 firm with at least moderately strong IP, or an IP firm that dominates its market (for example, in Chicago or other non-DC major city).

Do these seem like good places to work?

What does it mean for something to be a boutique? How small does it need to be?

For what it's worth, I may be less desireable after my spring grades, so many of these firms may not want to call me back.

Many of you seem very knowledgeable. I know few people in IP or going into IP, so I am somewhat at a loss. I hope you can provide advice.

I wouldn't drop an interview unless you really don't think you can handle it, or would just plain not want to work for that firm.

The way I've heard the term "boutique" used, it means that the firm is limited to a practice area--not that it's small necessarily. It seems to me that the choice between working at an IP boutique or at a general practice firm with a patent group depends on personal preferences (or in this economy, whatever hand you've been dealt). I can think of advantages and disadvantages to both. I found it helpful to chat with practicing patent attorneys and litigators about this. Your school can likely set you up with an alum who's a patent attorney who might be willing to mentor you. I generally find my classmates useless in this regard. I can count the number of engineers at my school on one hand, and many of them don't want to go into patent law anyway.

One could plausibly get offered by a firm you "don't want to work for," and non-callbacked by your dream firm (whatever the interesting basis for a 1L having a strong preference for a 'law firm' is). That, plus the economy, I think a 25+ pre-select kid should just do em all.

Suck it up, its 20 minute sessions, if he can't handle opportunity - how's he going to handle work?!?

I would NOT reject a law firm if they want to talk to you. That is crazy talk. In this economy, you cannot be serious. Based on my conversation with someone at my present 1L SA firm, firms have a much lower bar for Loyola pre-selects than they do for screening interviews done via cold-calls or law school OCIs. This could be just reflecting on my own firm from this summer, but I assume its the case for all firms. They're flying down to Chicago in some cases, they're going to want to interview all day for both days, so they would pack in as many kids as they can. Having said that, 20, 25, or whatever number of pre-selects some kids are getting - you gotta be mindful of that.

They don't have your Spring grades yet, your journal stuff, nothing really other than where you go to school and how you did in one term.

20 interviews is like 3 hours a day, you're not expected to know much about the firm, or memorize anything spectacular, just take some notes and do them all. This is the biggest IP fair in the country, you're only a 2L once, do 'em all.

IP folks with great grades are striking ou ITE. Only a few, mind you, but sometimes you just get unlucky, and the orgy of hiring doesn't exist anymore to drown out the occasional bad interview. You should seek out every single chance you can.

Can anyone comment/speculate on whether transferring law schools might help/hurt your chances at PLIP? For exampe, assume: T2 student w/o LR but with 10-15% grades, journal/no journal depending on writing comp. (won't know until the week before PLIP), and a potential transfer to GULC, GW, P, M, or D.

Would it be better to stay and keep those (potentially decent if offered a journal position) credentials, or would it be more beneficial to xfer to any of the aforementioned schools? I could see a scenario where the interviewer would look favorably upon the transfer because that firm might typically hire from there. On the other hand, I could also imagine the opposite scenario where the interviewer had already selected the student based upon current/potential credentials.

If I were you, I would try to email a couple of partners at your target firms for advice. They know what they're looking for much better than any law students on this forum do. After all, you're trying to make decisions that will optimize your employment prospects, can't think of a much better person to ask about that than a couple of lawyers who hire.

I have done this more times than I can count, and I've gotten a REALLY good response rate. People like being asked for advice, they're passing the favor, someone did that for them when they were younger I'm sure.

The communications from the program have said that final schedules would be available on 6/25, but did not mention at what time. I notice my schedule has zero changes and appears exactly as it did on 6/21. No movement to the numbers on the alternates lists or anything.

Has anyone seen any changes to their schedule show up today?

someone in another thread reported last night that a slot they were 3rd alt for had changed to a preselect, but thats all ive heard. Mine didnt change.

I am guessing most will not change. I think it is much more likely that people will drop interviews by not showing up than by actively withdrawing at this point.

Per the recent email, looks like this is right on... Final schedules are posted, doesn't sound like many will see changes to their alts.

Did anyone on this board happen to get an interview with Proctor & Gamble, and if so, would you mind sharing stats?
