Have the firms sent you guys/gals anything regarding the first day?

Haven't heard from my firm in months. Anyone else experiencing radio silence?

Hadn't heard anything in months either, but got an email this afternoon about day 1 administrative stuff and a few events planned for the first week (May 16 start date).

I start the 23rd, so hopefully I head something by the end of next week. Good to know I'm not alone! Everyone else I have asked IRL has heard from their firms frequently.

Have we discussed bags for men? Am I going to be carrying any documents, a laptop, or etc.?

I bought a black leather briefcase/shoulder bag.

Better to use with the strap as a shoulder bag or without as a briefcase?

I'm basing this on absolutely nothing, but I promise you no one will care.

Fwiw, I picked up a black Filson 256 (heavy canvas, still classy). Planning to rock the shoulder strap.

Well you need something to carry your backup tie, cuff links, padfolio, set of montblanc pens, suit brush, and grooming products (for midday touch ups). We're not animals, after all.

I'm guessing they'll probably give you a bag (YMMV) and I'm guessing you'll probably never have to take the computer home anyway (YMMV). I'm guessing you'll also be like every other SA who has ever SAed and feel weird about rolling in at 9:47 every morning so you'll probably have a bag with you (YMMV). And I'm guessing you'll buy a bag because you won't want to be rolling in with that bag that they gave you (YMMV).

I heard nothing from my firm after I accepted the offer until they sent a questionnaire and the list of Summer Associates about a month ago. Got an email this week that they were sending something to my address so hopefully that'll have more info. I know from the previous email that there's a dinner on the 22nd and I start on the 23rd. I know nothing more than that.

If I don't hear more, I'll just show up on day one at 8:30 in a suit, playing it safe all around. Considering how formal these programs are I'm sure I'll hear much more in the next two weeks.

Anyone going to prep for the summer? I mean reading up on a particular area of law because the firms nonflagship office where you are summerin has got bandwidth in that area that's hasnt been remotely close to your focus.
