Oh, my comment was in response to the comment hard work isn't inherently virtuous. Old partners' work likely has no impact on the overall demand for legal services, and the more baby boomers working, the less millenials are working assuming there's a finite amount of demand. In all likelihood, all they are doing is bringing more money into their firm, and consequently causing less money to go elsewhere. Overall, this is a net negative for new lawyers, but a benefit for me. I only care about the legal careers of people I know and myself, and would imagine most people are the same.rpupkin wrote:I never said anything about "virtue." Much appreciated. Makes me feel like I could argue in a court when all I'm doing is sitting to midnight all alone at a florescent lit desk for two crossing t's and dotting i's pushing paper into the abyss.rpupkin wrote:Indeed. Lots of boomers won't understand how this works though, and will reply "send me the word document, tnx." Also, at least in the system I worked with, those links didn't work on phones.PennBull wrote:Whoaaaaa never thought of thisbaal hadad wrote:Send docs as a link in your doc management system. This still only helps if you catch the typo after sending the document but before the other person opens it.NotMyRealName09 wrote:Lots of boomers won't understand how this works though, and will reply "send me the word document, tnx." I can think of an Aussie cookbook publisher who'd disagree: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8627335.stmfats provolone wrote:yea i always send link and doc. last thing i want is an email when im away from my computer saying "send me the doc"

They actually wound up getting hired as Wachtell's diversity chair so it turned out ok for them in the end.fats provolone wrote:solid PR moveAnonymous User wrote:I can think of an Aussie cookbook publisher who'd disagree: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8627335.stmfats provolone wrote:yea i always send link and doc. last thing i want is an email when im away from my computer saying "send me the doc"

note: the above is a joke, and not intended to be interpreted as a statement of fact about either the publisher or Wachtell.

While it's undoubtedly offensive on every level, no one's actually tested out the recipe as written so we can't really judge the taste.fats provolone wrote:no i mean i bet they sold a lot more booksAnonymous User wrote:They actually wound up getting hired as Wachtell's diversity chair so it turned out ok for them in the end.fats provolone wrote:solid PR moveAnonymous User wrote:I can think of an Aussie cookbook publisher who'd disagree: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8627335.stmfats provolone wrote:yea i always send link and doc. last thing i want is an email when im away from my computer saying "send me the doc"

Not joking question - if I am generally billing at 75% efficiency w' 25% for human interaction, interwebs and urination (with occasional defecation), I'd rather the big suits know I'm here that other 25% of the time. Do you just put this in a non-billable #?

Yeah I'm dealing with this recently. I see their work product in the system and it blows, but Lordy Lordy do I need to shape up my attention to detail.Desert Fox wrote:I fucking hate how much lawyers focus on typos. There was some comment on TLS that those who do well in biglaw (meaning those who don't hate their life) are those who do well enough with big picture and substantive shit but don't spend hours at 2am meticulously crafting subject-verb agreement and typosDesert Fox wrote:I fucking hate how much lawyers focus on typos. Unfortunately, I don't even think of this as a "boomer" thing. When the boomers finally die, I suspect that fanaticism re typos will live on in law firms.Desert Fox wrote:I fucking hate how much lawyers focus on typos.
