How common is it for DANY to reject an applicant post-3rd round once that applicant updates them with an offer obtained from BX, BK, or Queens? Would the answer change if you have two offers?

So absolutely no one has been offered from BX yet? How certain are we of this? Curious since some of the comments made it sound pretty sure

I can't speak for everyone but I have quite a few friends who have had third rounds in the past week, none of them have heard. They are all really strong applicants (one has an offer from big law waiting).Anonymous User wrote:I'd like to know this as well?

Also, the boards from the last few years make it seem like offers start going out around December 15th.
Again, I can't speak for everyone but that is what I know.

how do 2nd round evaluations go. At that point has your credentials been approved and it is then your interviewing skills and based solely on the interview?

Current applicant, so take this with grain of salt. My impression is that credentials mostly come into play for getting the first round. From then on, interview performance is the major factor up until the final cut. At that point, the hiring committees have a pool of candidates that have interviewed satisfactorily, and began narrowing down based on credentials/work experience/office needs.Anonymous User wrote:how do 2nd round evaluations go. Is a 3rd round with NYDA a good sign? What is the chance percentage wise that you will get an offer?

Thats what it seemed like to me. Credentials wise I think my T6 gave me a boost.Anonymous User wrote: thanks for this, so your impression is if you get a first round you have met the credentials then it up to your interviewing skills?
I had no ADA experience, a semester in regulatory enforcement, some defense volunteering, and was entering a clinic with DOJ prosecution. From reading some of the past threads, it sounds like those credentials aren't the best to show commitment to the job, so I prepped intensely for every interview in order to convince the panels that I was serious. FWIW, i think "good interview skills" is as much being able to use whatever credentials you have to give your answers more substance, as it is drilling down on crim pro to be able to come up with those answers. Its not hard to spot an ethical issue at the beginning of the hypo. Comparing a fact pattern to an experience from your "credentials" and using that to flesh out your answer is usually a good way to go. You want to vocalize this type of thought process so the interviewers can see you know how to use those credentials

Curious to this as well. Tho it seems like this cycle, very few 3rd rounds have been converted to 4th rounds so far.Anonymous User wrote:Is a 3rd round with NYDA a good sign? What is the chance percentage wise that you will get an offer?

Anyone with a final round with Miami in New York City hear anything about when the SA may be coming up? It's been dead air since getting the letter.

Keep in mind that it's still *very* early in the DANY process. Generally (all people with competing offers aside) the earliest of the hires hear in January and the latest hear all the way up to May/June. It's a standard story to hear that someone had their 3rd round in October and then didn't hear anything until January/February. I'm one of those people right now who did a 3rd in October, and this is what I've been told by numerous ADAs I know at the office (doesn't help me relax any more, but it's at least good to keep hearing that).Anonymous User wrote:Curious to this as well. How long do offices typically give you to consider offers? If BX and BK start giving out offers soon and DANY wants to wait until january...
I feel like BX and BK aren't dumb, they know if you ask for an extension that means that 1) your holding out for another office, 2) if that office is manhattan, they're going to lose you

Most offices give two weeks, some give a few days. Depends on the office.

Thanks for relaying this. I'm wondering how this is so. I imagine the typical DANY hire is an attractive enough candidate to have offers from other DA offices, given how selective the office is. Do you think there are a bunch of DANY hires who didn't have any offers from other offices? or that they were just able to get extensions/let offers go in hopes of getting DANY?Anonymous User wrote: Keep in mind that it's still *very* early in the DANY process. For those still waiting for second or third interviews, serious question- could we be asked about the ferguson or staten island police cases, how we feel about them? See how we handle a football like that?

No it is not normal. The recruting coordinator Mr. Stewart is pretty good about staying in touch with applicants and if you haven't even received a letter or email than they likely didn't see anything that they liked.Anonymous User wrote:applied to miami october 1st no news, is this normal?

DANY generally doesn't put you in the position of having to let an offer go. There are plenty of people eventually hired who had no competing offers, but that typically doesn't start until the spring. Everyone I know getting 4th rounds right now had a competing offer with a deadline.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks for relaying this. I'm wondering how this is so. Has anyone ever told another office that they have an different offer and the 2nd office rejected them outright? I am curious as to how offices respond to competing offers.

Gotcha. Could you provide any more color on those 4th rounds? (previous DANY/law enforcement experience, school, what type of competing offer, URM status, when their 3rd round was, etc.) Any idea of how long it took for them to hear back about 4th after updating DANY about their offer?Anonymous User wrote: DANY generally doesn't put you in the position of having to let an offer go. Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
Sure. I know doing the DANY summer internship was a huge bonus for the people who got a 4th round. The schools were kind of all over the place from T-14 to NYC regionals. Their competing offers were from BigLaw, courts, and even other DA's offices. As far as I can tell, everyone heard back incredibly quickly after alerting DANY to their competing offer.Anonymous User wrote:Gotcha. Could you provide any more color on those 4th rounds? I think these people were all REALLY strong candidates though (hence why they had multiple job offers). Most of them blazed through the first 3 rounds.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
