Not 100% but the majority of NYC moves really fast so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Agreed on the NYC-tends-to-move-fast point. NYC firms typically aim to get callbacks out within 24-48 hours, sometimes even the same day. And I agree with the general sentiment expressed earlier that people shouldn't get their hopes up and should continue mass mailing (and if you have not started, start yesterday).

That said, I just want to be clear that it's not automatically time to panic if you haven't heard back yet. Callbacks go out when each interviewer gets his/her evals in, so they're not perfectly uniform and can sometimes take a bit of time. Generally speaking it's pretty safe to assume a ding once you've heard that callbacks from your specific interviewer have gone out, but there's no set 36-hours-or-dinged rule.

Do individual interviewers give out their own CBs - i.e., could interviewer A from firm X give out several CBs one day, while interviewer B of firm X gives his CBs out another day? Or will a firm's interviewers come together and decide on a collective batch in order to give them out at once?

I think it depends on when the individual interviewer turns in his evaluation. But I am sure, like all things, it depends. Each firm may have a slightly different system.

Did you guys send thank you emails? The speakers at the OCI orientation suggested not to, and the consensus here: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&t=190967 is that they're only necessary for small/southern firms. Still, there's the fear that everyone else is doing it. Care to share?

I have been sending emails. I'm not sure how important they've been though since one CB came before I even sent the thank you note, but I sent one anyways because at that point I really wanted to thank the interviewer.

I have not sent any thank you emails and have gotten two callbacks so far, so it hasn't hurt me in NYC.

Thank you notes really only have the potential to hurt. If you typo it reflects poorly, and sending a perfect one is pretty negligible since it's headed for the trash anyway.
