For all you rising 2Ls: If you want to chat about CBs, Dings, and Offers, you should create another thread. Try to keep this thread for discussing the OGI process, as there are plenty of you who don't want to know who is and isn't getting CBs.

Does anyone have an idea of what the normal California turnaround time is?

Re: 2014 University of Virginia OGI Thread
A question for 3Ls: does the "host firm" situation for CBs apply if you are doing CBs on back to back to back days in three different cities?
Hypothetical scenario:
Monday: Fly to City 1 and stay in hotel
Tuesday: CB in City 1, fly to City 2, hotel in City 2
Wednesday: CB in City 2, fly to City 3, hotel in City 3
Thursday: CB in City 3, fly back to Cville
If I were to do this, would I ask the firm in city 1 to be the host? Or would I just split it myself by the scheduling travel with the firms individually...e.g.:
Firm 1 pays for flight to City 1 and hotel on Monday (and expenses on Tuesday in City 1)
Firm 2 pays for flight to City 2 and hotel on Tuesday (and expenses on Wednesday in City 2)
Firm 3 pays for flight to City 3 and hotel on Wednesday and flight home to Cville (and expenses on Thursday in City 3)

Split it yourself. It's fine for one firm to be the host if they're all in the same city (ex: I had a NY firm host for a trip that included other NY callbacks), but a NY firm is not going to want to host your trips to DC and Chicago.Anonymous User wrote:A question for 3Ls: does the "host firm" situation for CBs apply if you are doing CBs on back to back to back days in three different cities?

Re: 2014 University of Virginia OGI Thread
Two questions:
If I already have the travel arrangements for a string of callbacks set up, and I want to add one to the end (ex. have monday-wednesday scheduled, want to add one thursday) is it proper to inform the CB I am setting up for thursday the hotel I am staying in on wednesday? I just thought that if I had to use their hotel on Thursday, I would be stuck in no-mans land from 12-3 waiting for check in at the new hotel.
Also, is it OK to schedule a CB on the first day of classes? Law reg says for a lot of courses that you must show up to the first day of classes or you get dropped from the course - how serious do they take this? Can I just email the prof?

Re: 2014 University of Virginia OGI Thread
I had to add on a CB for the week after next after already booking the trip. I just contacted my host firm's travel agency and asked them to adjust my trip to include one more night in the hotel and to change my flight back for the next day. Firms should be more than happy to do this because even with the change fee for the flight and the additional hotel night, the splitting of the costs will save them money in the end (they might even split the change fee too).Anonymous User wrote:Two questions:

Question regarding CB phone tag.
I got a CB voicemail in the late afternoon on Friday. I waited until Monday (today) morning to return because it was after business hours when I got it. Got the recruiter's voicemail and left a message saying to call back any time today.
Didn't call back today.
Should I try again tomorrow morning?

Just email the professor. He or she will record the lecture for you. No big deal.Anonymous User wrote:Two questions:

Re: 2014 University of Virginia OGI Thread
The firm might be waiting to complete all of its OCIs before scheduling CBs. I have a few firms that gave me a call and said to call someone who is out of the office for the next week. Other firms said an email would follow up (which hasn't yet), and still others specifically told me they were waiting to schedule CBs all at once. I'd maybe call them at the end of the week, but definitely give them time.North wrote:Question regarding CB phone tag.

I interview with Butler Snow today, but I found something online that showed their offer rate recently was 3 out of 15 firm wide. Does anyone have any information on this? It looks like I shouldn't even waste my time if they can't even offer half of their summer class a full-time job.

I don't know anything about that, but I don't see how intending only to offer 20% of people benefits any law firm. Even forgetting about SA salaries, the programs are expensive. If you don't have anything yet, better 20% than 0%.

So, when does it become unreasonable to hope that any more callbacks will come?

Worrying about class is absurd. Even if you had an offer, if you might like another place more then this is the time to figure that out. Choosing the right firm is more important than choosing the right law school, because fit and environment tangibly impact your performance.pertristis wrote:Most professors will. c'mon 0L, don't do this in the legal employment forum
also, the only people who have this data are UVA's CSO (at least until they accidentally email it out). not something you're gonna be able to extract from this forum or any like it, regardless of which board you post it in.
