Re: Michigan 2013 OCI Thread
Anonymous User wrote: My "anecdotal evidence" wasn't from Michigan students, it was from friends at NYU/Columbia who said that the number of people they knew who were 0 or 1 for ~10 callbacks was unusually high and that it seemed as though firms were calling back a far higher number of people relative to their hiring needs than normal. It could be that class sizes are shrinking and callback amounts remain the same, or vice versa. But this may not affect Michigan students that much anyway since i'm sure firms put a little more thought into the callbacks that are going to cost them ~$1000 than the ones that don't cost anything.
Again, totally anecdotal, but thought it was relevant to pass on given the OP's situation.
Actually, I'm not so sure that your information is relevant to Michigan students. Not to pile on anecdotes, but I know an associate who does recruiting at her NY firm, and she said that the call back calculus with local schools (Columbia, NYU, Fordham...) is much different than it is with non-local schools like Michigan. In her words, if it will only cost a cab ride, her firm has no problem "giving a student a second look". But the standards are higher when a call back costs the firm a flight, hotel, transportation, and per diems. This could just as easily be the cause of the divergent cb/offer rates between Columbia/NYU and Michigan and not a shrinking economy.
Also, FWIW, on one of these threads there's a link to Columbia's cb/offer rates. If you dig you can find it.

Just wanted to say that for anyone that does not have offers yet, please make sure you are mass-mailing. A 3L helped me with mass-mailing strategies that got me great offers last fall and I would like to pay that forward, so PM me if you would like to discuss strategies/tips.

PSA: If you haven't been dinged by a particular firm, reach out to 3Ls who summered there. Ask us about the firm and the process. A phone call or an email sent on your behalf can bring you to the top of pile. Also, until you have an offer in-hand, know that hustling trumps classwork and class attendance.

Three callbacks so far and no word from any. Although, I was told by one firm that the hiring committee won't meet until mid-September, so that explains why I haven't heard back from them, yet.Anonymous User wrote:

Anyone heard from Pattishall? I really liked them, but I know their class size is small.

Re: Michigan 2013 OCI Thread
I'm an associate at a Detroit firm. The slow Detroit response rate may be because the other Michigan law schools don't do OCI generally until class begins, so I think we're waiting to see some of those people first before we start making offers.

Re: Michigan 2013 OCI Thread
Does anyone have any specific insight into CB-to-Offer timeline for Detroit firms? I know some have mentioned it is "a while", but any specific numbers? I've had a few callbacks and the firms have all said offers are made on a rolling basis, but I was given no specific timeline.
