MoFo should have pressure to match, given the fact that most west coast firms have matched (Fenwick, WSGR, Goodwin, Cooley, etc.)

White & Case matched. June/December split with standard hours req, but you can catch-up the June payment in December if you miss hours in June. Payment schedule makes more sense for retention since regular bonuses are paid in Feb

I would find it hilarious if CovingTTTon did not match. But I think they have to, otherwise they compromise themselves vs the Gibsons, Kirklands, Lathams etc. that have increasingly large DC offices.smile0751 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 7:54 amRopes matched on Friday. Back to bonuses, how are people in the V40-100 feeling? At one of them in Chi/TX/LA and no news yet
Not so sure about DC though. I've spoken with people at Covington, and they think it's unlikely CB will hop on board with Spring Bonuses. And if Covington doesn't pay, zero chance Hogan does.
I think the tech firms all matching helps the bonus trickle down to other firms who see themselves as “peers” of Goodwin, Fenwick, Cooley, and other firms.

Covington and A&P have both lost a lot of ground in DC. Their Vault rankings are outdated.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 5:20 pmI would find it hilarious if CovingTTTon did not match. Pretty hard to say Covington has lost ground in prestige when they’ve been widening the distance between it and W&C over the last three years w/r/t vault’s regional rankings for DC, and those rankings are voted on by those in each particular region.

I can’t think of any would-be litigator who really wanted Cov over W&C. Plenty of the opposite, though. A handful of ambivalents. And lots of people who wanted Gibson or Kirkland etc. over Cov in DC as well.cheaptilts wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 5:52 pmPretty hard to say Covington has lost ground in prestige when they’ve been widening the distance between it and W&C over the last three years w/r/t vault’s regional rankings for DC, and those rankings are voted on by those in each particular region.

I have been waiting four years to dust off my treasure trove of CovingTTTon memes. Do it, pussies.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 5:20 pmI would find it hilarious if CovingTTTon did not match. As a matter of fact, instead of a bonus, announce an equivalent *penalty* to be taken out of every associate's paychecks.

Re: 2021 Special Bonuses
There are certainly some, as the two firms compete for litigation associates at OCI each year. And some people are turned off by WC’s compensation. But all that is besides that the point, because the DC market isn’t focused solely on litigation.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 5:54 pmI can’t think of any would-be litigator who really wanted Cov over W&C. Was just pointing out that Covington’s place in the DC market seems pretty secure given that it has separated itself from WC more and more in the DC vault rankings each year, much like Cravath in NY (notwithstanding that its prestige among peers in the market maybe shouldve declined).

Nice. Anyone know what months, whether there's an hours requirement, whether there's a catch-up?

No hours requirement for Sidley (although potential pro-ration for leaves, start dates and reduced hours associates).

K&E 4+ year here. My money was on the backend payment being in December so I'm pleasantly surprised. The multiplier is what matters now - I'm tracking for above 3000, and hope I don't hit that, but it will most likely still be a ton of hours relative to even strong prior years.
