Re: Cornell 2016 AJF/BOJF/DCJF/OCI
When I told my fellow interns this summer from other T-14s that Cornell kids actively talk and ask each other questions about an exam they had just taken, or ask other classmates what firms/CBs they have, people were actually shocked. There are a couple kids who are extremely insecure and nosy, and I think it feeds into the frenzy.

I think 1 week is good, but you never know. I would give it 2 weeks to be sure.Anonymous User wrote:...Anyways... *** so, would people say that 1 week is the average turnaround for getting an offer from a cb? i feel like--and correct me if im wrong--that the posts in this thread are largely only those who got same-day offers...and thus not truly representative.

Agree. It can also depend on when the firm's hiring committee meets. Several firms I interviewed with only met one day a week to make offer decisions.Anonymous User wrote:I think 1 week is good, but you never know. I will admit that cornell really fucked up with their 1L classes this year. There were a lot of terrible teachers to accommodate the smaller class sizes. Penulver did not plan the change very well.

This posting reminds me of those terrible profs (torres colb shewin hockett)Anonymous User wrote:I will admit that cornell really fucked up with their 1L classes this year. There were a lot of terrible teachers to accommodate the smaller class sizes. Penulver did not plan the change very well.
Students wrote bad reviews for Torres but he is still teaching property for 1Ls.
I love Cornell. I love my classmates. But I am really disappointed by our deans.

Can you all explain what was wrong with Torres? I was thinking of taking his environmental law class... Sherwin and Hockett must have been an awful combination.Anonymous User wrote:This posting reminds me of those terrible profs (torres colb shewin hockett)Anonymous User wrote:I will admit that cornell really fucked up with their 1L classes this year. This prof got every class unprepared. Late for every class. Got class canceled with no notification. Got answers wrong for quiz... All disasters you can think of for a class.

Anon from earlier...agreed with the subsequent posters. Feel as if the administration/deans dropped the ball this year.
However, I do want to give OCS a special shout out. They've been great all year and I greatly appreciate how well AJF ran.

If you don't have an offer in hand right now, you should be emailing firms. Download the NLJ 350 in excel format and sort by cities. Apply to every firm in every city you'd be willing to work in (I'd start with NYC, though...regardless of whether you want to work there or not). You can worry about whether the firm pays 180 or 160 or even 145 after you have a job.
Good luck!
also, stop shitting up the thread I made w/ comments that have nothing to do with job hunting.

So what? You can massmail and do callbacks at the same time. Plus, you should have been massmailing before AJF. If you do not have any offer yet, you are likely not a rockstar candidate, and I wouldnt feel so comfortable knowing I have to convert 1 of 2 callbacks to an offer.Anonymous User wrote:stop scaring people, some people still havent even gone to all their call backs yetruninthefront wrote:If you don't have an offer in hand right now, you should be emailing firms. Different anon here - the point is that It's not at all true that people who don't hold offers aren't "rockstar candidates." A number of people have not yet even begun their callbacks yet and also have more than 2 or 3. I think the point is to stop making it sound like people should already have offers by now no matter what, especially when not every firm does same day offers (like a lot of V15 firms do).
But I understand your intentions are good...it's just a little severe this early on to be suggesting that people without offers yet are in danger of striking out.

Re: Cornell 2016 AJF/BOJF/DCJF/OCI
everyone should be emailing firms. Especially when every T14 OCI has occurred/is now happening. Offers are made at most firms on a rolling basis, so it's definitely more difficult (even if only marginal) to convert a CB scheduled for Aug 30th vs. Aug 10.Anonymous User wrote:Different anon here - the point is that It's not at all true that people who don't hold offers aren't "rockstar candidates." People with 4+ CBs are probably fine. People with 3 CBs are fine. Shit, people with 1 CB could convert and be fine: you can only accept one offer, right? But yeah if you don't have an offer right, you should be mailing before going on your dozens of CBs that just happened to be scheduled late.
I'm not trying to scare anyone. Cornell is rocking and everyone will get a job. Hiring lasts well into the Fall semester (and even later), so it's no biggie. Everyone should just be proactive, because many big firms are still accepting emails and handing out screeners.
