I'd go with less selective NYC offices as backups. If you strike out in LA counting on one of a handful of the most selective firms in NYC to save you doesn't make much sense.

With the caveat that I'm not as familiar as 2L's with whether any of these are bid too high or low, I think this list looks pretty solid.

For those who have no idea what to do this kind of list is the perfect way to maximize interviews. You aren't usually going to get NYC offices with bids in the 20's and many secondary market offices don't fill up at all. As a result, using the first 15-20 spots on NYC and the remaining spots on secondary markets where you have meaningful ties is the way to go.

Low Stone, targeting litigation in NYC, no real work experience, Ivy undergrad, decent interviewer
Is this too aggressive? I want a fairly safe list. Also, I plan on adding a couple underbid hometown firms during add/drop as back-ups, but I don't want to desperately need them. Bolded the ones I really care about.

1. Proskauer
2. Shearman
3. Kirkland or Sidley Austin
4. Gibson Dunn
5. Debevoise
6. Wilmer Hale
7. Weil
8. Jones Day
9. Milbank

23. Orrick
24. Norton Rose Fulbright
25. Dechert
26. Simpson Thatcher
27. DLA Piper
28. Hughes Hubbard
29. Baker Hostetler
30. Vinson Elkins

If you think it's too aggressive, what are some safer NYC options I could swap things out for? Thanks for the help!

If we don't get CLR, how/when will we find out? And, how/when will we find out about other journals we applied to?

Based on last years EIP thread and threads like this one, http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... s&start=75, it looks like calls and/or emails from other journals in the next few days.

You don't get a "No" email and I think pretty much everyone finds out the day they say. It would only get extended if people turned down law review. Other journals will reach out shortly after CLR.

I just got the call 10 min. ago. I think it depends on your caller, I don't know if they're done but you may not be out yet.

Does anyone know if they leave voicemails or just call back (or if no voicemail = kaput)? I have been in court w/ phone off since 845am.

Thanks!

I'm going off memory, but if they couldn't reach you they mentioned that they'd try email and other methods. I'm sure they'd leave a voicemail, though.

I didn't answer and did not get a voicemail. I called back about 10 minutes later.

EDIT: and then got an email from the person I spoke to about 10 minutes after that.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. law review's great; not being on law review sounds like it woulda been pretty awesome too. Plenty of non-LR people do super prestige-y type things.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
