How does this square with the supposed yield protection people here describe firms as having? I mean, obviously it's a buyer's market from the firms' perspectives, and they'll have no trouble filling their classes regardless, but I can't imagine they like to make a habit of extending offers to people they think will turn them down. Or having to bother with round of callbacks and evaluations at the last minute.Anonymous User wrote:See above, probably best not to mention, not before a cb unless you're going to add, I have to decide by x, and I'm confident I would rather work for you.
And by the way, the suggestion that a student has real leverage in seeking an SA position because they might go elsewhere is laughable. The exception would be for a small market firm where you had close ties and legit pre law school business relationships (or your family owns and runs the largest private businesses in the city or something). So that would apply to maybe a handful of law students in the country.

I think you're missing what the quoted language says. It says don't mention your offer, unless you're doing so because you want the firm you don't have an offer from to make you an offer or give you a cb. And it also says, that you should follow the information that you have an existing offer with the statement that you would rather work at the firm you don't have the offer from.

Back to topic, got a ding from DC office by snail mail the other day. Still no word from NY, but I'm assuming ding since it's been over a month.

Congrats! Any idea where they're at in their hiring timeline? Still sitting on my original email to them. Hoping that means I've survived any auto-ding and they might be keeping me around for when people reject offers after OCI.Anonymous User wrote:Offer -- SF office

Not entirely sure where Quinn's at unfortunately! I don't know anyone at the office so I really can't say.

Different anon with a fairly recent SF offer. The day I was there there was at least one other person interviewing, might have been two, so people are still coming in. I know that's not very helpful but that's all I got.

Did everyone with offers get their offer the next business day after their CB?

Offered on the spot at the callback. Looking back through this thread, it seems that is their M.O. unless the hiring partner is not at the office that day.Anonymous User wrote:Did everyone with offers get their offer the next business day after their CB?

Different anon - do you think not hearing the next business day is a no-offer?

If snail mail dings are seriously a thing when they already have our e-mail addresses, that's crazy. Tons of people switch local addresses between first and second year... just send the e-mail.

Snail mail dings are pretty common actually. And if the mailing address you provided on your resume is not a good way of reaching you, that's your problem.NYe wrote:If snail mail dings are seriously a thing when they already have our e-mail addresses, that's crazy. Re: Quinn Emanuel Hiring Timeline
1. That they are common doesn't make them smart. Again, e-mail is a million times easier.
2. Of course, the problem of the person who doesn't get an offer is that they didn't get an offer. The missing letter doesn't really matter since it's a ding. It is still a waste of paper for Quinn to send the letters in the first place. You might say it's not that much a waste / they don't care, which is probably true. Still stupid.

This profession is as conservative and old-school as the fucking clap. Are you really surprised they have failed to fully embrace email rejection letters?NYe wrote:If snail mail dings are seriously a thing when they already have our e-mail addresses, that's crazy. IDK why you are so worked up about this. It costs like five fucking cents to have the post office forward your mail anyway.

Re: Quinn Emanuel Hiring Timeline
Got the "We will be in touch" email.
This is assumed to be standard, and I should not be at all thinking I have a CB awaiting correct?
Also, how/would you follow up to it? If at all?
Note: Sent materials a couple weeks ago
Thanks!

I got mine three business days after my CB. It seemed like there were a lot of people out of the office when I went in to interview; not sure whether that had any effect on the delay.Did everyone with offers get their offer the next business day after their CB?

Quinn offerees - what are you evaluating post-OCI if you interviewed with other firms? Thinking that you will end up staying with your first offer, or going elsewhere?

Trying to decide if I want to commit 100% to litigation, which I THINK I do, but still feel nervous about closing off corporate entirely. Also geographical preference has changed for personal reasons.Anonymous User wrote:Quinn offerees - what are you evaluating post-OCI if you interviewed with other firms? Does anyone know if it would be acceptable to ask if I could summer at a different office than the one I interviewed at? LA vs. NYC.
