14 more. But that is an approximation. (OK - I'll stop for now, but only because everyone on this site has consistently remained on topic, and everyone has asked so nicely)splitmuch wrote:How many "lets get this thread back on what its supposed to be" posts will it take for you to be content with having made your point and stop posting about it?Remnantofisrael wrote:If that is a dick move, I'd say about 50% of the non-anon posts in this thread would apply. Good luck to everyone today in interviews!
A dick joke: my dick's so big I'd wear it as a neck-tie, but I'm worried I'd get a hard-on and strangle myself.
A dick move: Snape's earlier post, sarcastically giving "advice" to a poster who is obviously anxious about how this process is going.
2 of the 3 are ok, imo.

To anyone who knows a person who was a victim of this bloodbath, my condolences. So I suppose the on-topic question is, is this foreshadowing? I mean, at this point nothing we can do.Desert Fox wrote:FYI http://abovethelaw.com/2012/08/nationwi ... ton-strawn
How bad is it to bring this up in a callback, explain worries about the market in general, and ask why we should feel secure that Denton/K&L/Latham/Jenner/etc. etc. in chicago aren't soon to be in trouble? I mean, I know Winston's problem was they overshot by a lot, but it seems we only know who overshot once the layoffs start. A few Chicago firms we have been meeting with this week have vault/other indicators saying the workflow is slow - so maybe it is time to worry a bit more?
I think this directly relates to OCI and our choices in callbacks and offers etc but if a mod wants to erase this, feel free.

When is it time to freak out? Is this why so many of us are not getting any responses whatsoever? Are firms shrinking their class sizes compared to last year? Every firm I noted was keeping their class size the same or increasing it... but this sounds bad.Remnantofisrael wrote:To anyone who knows a person who was a victim of this bloodbath, my condolences. Re: 2012 NU OCI
Corporate work is really slow but Winston is just in trouble itself. Plenty of other firms are busy. But some aren't, and probably 1-2 will pull a Dewey.Anonymous User wrote:When is it time to freak out? Is this why so many of us are not getting any responses whatsoever? I wouldn't be that worried the whole market will crash. But you really can't protect against accidentally going to a firm that might implode.

Re: 2012 NU OCI
I'm not saying it is freakout time. LOTS of callbacks are coming and the quiet chicago front is not abnormal as I understand it. I'm pretty sure this was a firm-specific screw-up where they overbooked back in 2009 or 10 and this is just the result. Too many associates, not enough work. My point was more that {A} this is an important thing to consider when looking at firms (the workflow issue) and {B} wondering if people know what really went down, or if other firms are similarly overbooked.Anonymous User wrote:When is it time to freak out? Keep in mind, there have been stealth layoffs there for over a year I think.

Simpson? Simpson? Simpson? Has anyone heard? I'm assuming there is a good chance they are a same-day firm, as many of the other V10 seem to be.

Haven;'t heard anything from skadden. I got the impression that kirkland was gonna take around a week.Anonymous User wrote:has anyone actually gotten rejections from any of the top law firms? does silence just mean rejections at this rate? asking specifically for firms like cravath, weil, s&c, skadden, kirkland, etc.

ah ok -- well from the way that kirkland was trying to skirt me out of the interview room, i figured it might be a long shot anyways.splitmuch wrote:Haven;'t heard anything from skadden.
