I wonder if career services is giving special advice to rising 2Ls regarding 180 and non-180 firms? I'm going to post in the 1L thread and invite them here

i asked if i should adjust my bidding strategy in any way and they told me to hold off until like the week before bidding closes to see if more firms announce

Yeah, that makes sense. Just because a firm hasn't announced yet doesn't mean it won't. Some firms have pre-authorization from whatever committees to match any raises by the market leaders. Others need to set up meetings and hold votes and whatnot. Also, some firms really only operate in the major markets, so it is a pretty easy decision for them, while other firms also have to make decisions about branch offices in Miami and figure out what to do for associates in Latin America and all that. We will likely see another whole wave of matches this week.

That works out about right then to wait until a week before then. July 1 is when firms start actually paying the 180 scale. Any firm that hasn't matched by then is actually costing their associates money. IMO, any firm that delays past then raises some questions as to its financial outlook and its level of commitment to its associates, even if that firm is then forced to match a couple months later.

Kirkland associates watch Game of Thrones on in-home 4k movie theatre. CovingTTTon associates streaming recent Adam Sandler movies using mom's netflix account and neighbor's wifi on Vizio TV from Rent-A-Center that he shares with roommate.

Wondering if/when/how that will trickle down to secondary market firms with IP groups that pay above local market.
