I dont understand spreading the same salary to all cities without considering the sheer higher col in nyc. Is that like a nyc tax to fend off poverty and unattractive people

it's not economically rational, but the market has tended to move that way for the big boys

lol @ the idea that these comparisons are objective (or even accurate, but not getting into that). I'm happy TX ppl get to enjoy low COL (+ tax benefits)—that's great for them. I'm still gonna choose NYC every time.OneTwoThreeFour wrote:Nah dude, why have 5 bedrooms plus a pool when you can just have a broom closet + "CULTURE"toast and bananas wrote:ITT lots of NYC bros jelly of us Texans sitting over hear counting our FAT STACKS

Re: NYC to 200k
Grew up in TX and live in NYC. Bigger house is whatever and COL isn't as disparate as people make it seem (no car, insurance, free seamless 200 days of the year, instacart, walmart.com/amazon, etc). Housing prices in TX are increasing pretty rapidly but that's still a pretty big distinction.
However, the difference in taxes is absurd. No State or city tax makes TX STACKS better, especially after the tax bill. It's just not fair

This. I know a person like this. He worked intensely all week, and had a near-zero error rate. He was also super stressed. I don't know if he took addy or what but my lower V100 friend was much more chill and que cera cera about work.Anonymous User wrote:

People who have "succeeded" in this system are generally neurotic and probably suffering from something in the DSM-5, but they're also damn good lawyers because everything that have had to do to end up there selects for those skills. They deserve to get paid more for living the life that they do.

I can't wait for these raises to play themselves out so I don't have to go to TLS for another 2+ years.
