Torts and ENRD are posted apparently

Edits:

1) OIL now too. Looks like she's plowing through whatever came out today.

2) Crim AFML posted, and she says she's done for tonight.

3) have fun sleeping on this one guys : ( "Another group of OCIJ HP finalists soon
EOIR-OCIJ has sent me their last group of finalists. I'll be posting those on Tuesday morning."
Damn. Looks like I didn't make the initial selection for ENRD. Can't say I'm surprised after bombing my interview...

I haven't heard from any of my references either, and I was totally counting on them to make up for my interview. :(
I also didn't make the cut for ENRD, but I thought it was one of the best interviews I've ever done. Time to re-evaluate everything in my life.

based on her expectation post today do you all think she will send out emails today? Before she said definitely not until after Thanksgiving.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. There's a lot of finalist notifications that still have to go out. I can't imagine emails will all get done before COB today.

I assume that the meaning of "Finalist" varies among components. But does anyone have any perspective on when components call their first-choice finalists / get in touch with second-choice finalists?

latest from deana:

Hi, guys:

Sorry for the delay. I'm actually on leave this week and trying to get word out as best as I can because we've all been in your position at some point in our lives.

Tomorrow is the deadline for components to designate their finalists. I'm still pending data from a few. I plan to get these folks cleared and update their status as fast as possible. Email notifications take a bit longer.

Those of you fortunate enough to be selected for multiple interviews may well be a finalist for more than one component or more than one hiring office within a component. You may be a primary for one and an alternate for another, or any combination thereof. Once the email messages go out, you'll know exactly WHICH components (or hiring offices)selected you as a finalist. Unfortunately, you will not know whether you are a primary candidate or an alternate. Generally speaking, if there is a significant delay, you may be an alternate. Except for EOIR, which runs later anyway.

Now, if you have an offer in hand, you do NOT have to respond instantaneously. You are entitled to a reasonable time to consider the offer, which, coincidentally, may also be a reasonable time for a component that cleared finalists later rather than sooner to issue a second offer. You can theoretically receive the same number of offers as you had interviews. Not likely, but possible.

Current law students: For offers issued prior to Dec 15, you have 28 days or until Dec 30th to respond, whichever comes first. If the offer is issued after Dec 15, you get two weeks.

Law school grads: You get two weeks.

IF you have set your heart on working for Component A, receive an offer from Component B, and the respose deadline is looming, you may, at your discretion, tactfully reach out to the component contact at Component A, advise of the looming deadline, and inquire about your chances. Some are very forthcoming; it all just depends. Some may not actually know.

OCIJ is slooooow to start issuing offers. That is just how they roll. They are very deliberate about their internal process.

Other components may be faster and I expect some offers to go out before Thanksgiving. Bear in mind that the folks issuing the offers have a case load to manage and other mission requirements to meet.

There's no mandate that offers be issued by any particular time. I anticipate that a decent number will go out this week (except for EOIR) with a larger number going out the first week in December. Just a guess, not a guarantee. Once the first round offers go out, we have to wait for responses before issuing further offers. When offers are declined, the follow up offers tend to go out fairly quickly.

I hope this is helpful. Best of luck to you all.

not trolling, just airing my disagreement with comfortless platitudes in the face of someone's disappointment. got an offer, but not the one i was really hoping for, and i'm hearing a lot of these from friends, etc. to me, platitudes may represent good practical psychology at some point, but telling someone there's other fish in the sea right after a breakup doesn't help.

To be clear, for those of us who are finalists we could get offers any day now like including today and tomorrow? Or does that happen after Thanksgiving?

I think what matters is where they are in their process, which is hard to know from this side. If you're an alternate, then they likely need to wait to see some of their other offers resolve before making one to you. If you're a primary, then it might come today or tomorrow, but remember government is probably going home at 2pm tomorrow.

However, they also want to get the ball rolling on their primary offers, because in the event a primary declines at the end of their offer period, they will have to scramble to fill the spot only to find their alternates have started making other arrangements, or accepted a competing offer.

None of that is definitive, or anything more than probabilistic speculation, just something to chew on while you wait it out.

To anyone who wants to contextualize what being selected as a finalist means for the Civil Rights Division, I can at least confirm that there was a cutting process. I was an interviewee but am not a finalist.

I agree with this sentiment. It's not at all comforting to hear "there are other opportunities!" or "at least you got the interview!" Hearing that doesn't make me feel better about not getting the job I really wanted.

Alright any chance we can agree to stop complaining about encouraging remarks on here? FINE, we are not sorry you didn't get what you wanted and there's no hope and no other opportunities out there. Everything sucks and we are all doomed.

Any other news from OCIJ reference checks?

Have not heard from mine yet, but I believe Deana said she was posting the last batch of finalists today, so there may still be a ways to go.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
