No way this can't be real. Can't wait for all the money!!JohannDeMann wrote:what we know: at least 20 firms will be moving and this will include NYC, Chicago, and DC.
what we don't know: the amount and also Texas/Cali firms.
I'm assuming that California is moving too, I just cant confirm. I'm assuming the move is to at least 170k.
Based on the picture I'm hearing it looks like a pack of firms will lead to 190k in NYC. Then a straggler group for 175k in NYC and other cities. The big surprise mover is Willkie Farr at 190k in a pack with other V10 firms, which is basically putting pressure on the rest of the V30-V50 right now.
I don't want to give away too much info about how I got this intel but it's safe to say I snuck into a partner's corner office and called another managing partner and just quickly said "What's the deal about compensation?" He must not have noticed my voice difference and only seen the caller ID pop up. He proceeded to tell me everything for about 8 mins and then i said "Gotta GO!"

NY GOES TO 180k! IT HAPPENED!!!! (CovingTTTon does a 180! Holder wept.) Forum

Anyone else notice Fenwick raised first-year pay to 17BtC/week last paycheck?

For current 2Ls deciding between offers, given that base salary in NYC is going up I think you would be crazy to summer anywhere else.

If it's anything like the last boom, NYC might start but SV could easily match then beat. I bet Chicago doesn't match though.

i may have thrown a little bit of alleghory or hyperbole or whatever the exaggerated stories that the bible uses to deliver its message are. read it how you want literal or parable conveying the theme.lookingforhousing wrote:I definitely would not believe that based on what Johann is saying. the bottom line is several firms are increasing base pay for everyone including first years throughout at least multiple US cities by the end of september/october. that is gospel. for those who believe, you will be greeted by a pleasant paycheck surprise. for those who dont have fun with your TTT 160k salary.

i think kirkland and skadden would be the only potential matchers for the big movers (then maybe latham). i still expect sidley, baker, and mayer, winston, jenner to move.thesealocust wrote:Hutz_and_Goodman wrote:For current 2Ls deciding between offers, given that base salary in NYC is going up I think you would be crazy to summer anywhere else.

FWIW, business is good where I work, and everyone here is expecting at least 10% more pay this year.

You don't think it's going all at once? I think multiple firms have the email saved in their drafts folder and are waiting to fire it off.thesealocust wrote:Will got at least as high as NYC, and might go first.lawschool90 wrote:Any word on SV?

I know nothing about law firm management, but it certainly seems weird for a firm that was raising salaries, with offices in, say, SV and NYC, to let to SV folks know before the NYC folks.JohannDeMann wrote:You don't think it's going all at once? Any guess on how this affects Jones Day? Specifically, did they respond quickly in '07 the last time this happened?

So (theoretically speaking) if I'm tryna decide between Cahill NY and Sidley CHI, according to this thread, need to get my ass to NY ASAP?!?
Or is Chicago to 190 credited?

175k in Chicago will get you further than 190 in ny. I don't think Sisley will match 190 but we will have to see. Kirkland will though. They just threw 38k at summers like it was nothing.Anonymous User wrote:So (theoretically speaking) if I'm tryna decide between Cahill NY and Sidley CHI, according to this thread, need to get my ass to NY ASAP?!?

Rising 2l and had a second look in a major non-nyc market and the head of a practice group strongly hinted that nyc wouldn't be moving up this year so I'm skeptical. Possibly a marketing ploy though to get me to accept.Traynor Brah wrote:I continue to hear rumblings from sources
