My last minute research on 3L PD interviews has officially terrified me. Ugh the nerves have kicked in.

In case anyone is interviewing with Philly today, she's a bit behind. Not her fault though because I think there was supposed to be a second person there.

Philly PD finally got around to acknowledging my EJW interview request.. Did they not bother going to EJW?
Also, Bronx PD interviewer was totally checked out for my interview (last one of the day). I don't blame her for being tired, but it was pointless, I felt like I should just stop mid interview since it was a waste of both of our time.
Colorado PD told me they got 250 applicants for 60 interview spots, I wonder if the other offices had similar numbers.

EJW was definitely a spectrum of interview experiences for me; currently I feel pretty ambivalent about my chances.

Hey, I had the same experience with the Bronx PD; I was also one of the last interviews. I guess, looking back on this, I should've tried to get an earlier spot. The Miami PD interview was tough - I didn't expect to do a C-X and a closing argument on the spot!anon sequitur wrote:Philly PD finally got around to acknowledging my EJW interview request.. I did table talk with Colorado and they told me they received 450 applications!

Well that is weird, this was for a 3L application. Philly is not a big deal for me, so I'm not sweating it, but makes me wonder what their situation is.Anonymous User wrote: Was this for 2L or 3L ? I remember getting a ding email from Philly. (3L)

Re: Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair 2014
I had a Bronx interview pretty soon after lunch and the interviewer did not seem very interested either. It might just be how she interviews though since it seems to be a common experience.
Also the woman who was there for Philly was not the person who was listed on the EJW website and was not the person listed on their website(same as that was listed on the EJW website). The table talk I had almost made it seem like they were just there more as a formality and that it wasn't really formal interviews. IDK it was weird.
I am already nervous and over the wait to hear back from everywhere! Hopefully they will let us all know soon if we made first rounds. I am a 2L so obviously not as much stress for me as your 3Ls. Good luck everyone!

Re: Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair 2014
My interview reactions:
I thought the Miami interview was by far the toughest. They asked me an ethics hypo about the tension between zealous representation and truthfulness to the tribunal that was relatively straightforward. Then they gave me a fact pattern and asked me to do a basic cross examination. I did like that afterwards they explained what they were looking for and asked me some questions that further fleshed out my thinking (showing them where I was going with the cross). I also felt that this was the most formal of the interviews I had.
The Bronx interview was fun because it was just a conversation. It totally took the stress off from other interviews. A few people were thrown off and said that their interviewers seemed uninterested, but the woman that interviewed me seemed enthusiastic and answered my questions with excitement. I did notice that the interview seemed more like me interviewing her than her interviewing me, but from what I gather quite a few applicants felt this way.
The Brooklyn interview was actually fun. There were a few ethical questions, then a hypo was given. One of the attorneys played the client and we had to do a basic client interview based on the hypo. After that, they asked me some follow-up questions (what would I pursue as a case theory if X fact came out, what would I do if client wanted to take the stand and lie). Overall, it was relaxed and I actually enjoyed it.
The Mecklenburg interview was my favorite interview, because it seriously wasn't even an interview. I go to law school in NC, so we knew a lot of the same people. We spent 40 minutes (I had the last interview of the night) talking about different PD offices in NC, what its like to work with different people, the differences between offices I've worked in, things like that. He also talked a lot about his beliefs. He talked about politics, too, which was different. Overall, I really liked him and the interview. He told me he got about 350 applications just for interviews at EJW so the first cut was huge!
Overall, I can't wait to hear back from any (or all!) of them. I'm a 3L, so the wait is even more awful!
Edited to add: I also got a 3L ding from Philly the Monday or Tuesday after preselects came out.

Re: Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair 2014
I had 4 3L interviews, miami, mecklenburg, OPD, and Brooklyn..did table talk with Colorado
Mecklenburg was my favorite as well. I'm definitely excited about the new things that office is trying to do. The interview definitely didn't feel intense, just a conversation. He also informed me that he is making offers very soon.
Miami was intense but the hypo definitely wasn't a hypo, it was just straightforward, if anyone answered that they couldnt argue innocence then idk what they were thinking.
OPD was nice but i felt rushed since they couldnt come for Friday.
Brooklyn was just ok in my opinion, not enough discussion about the clients like I had with Mecklenburg and Miami.

I agree about Miami. At first I thought the innocence thing was a trick because it seemed so simple!Anonymous User wrote:I had 4 3L interviews, miami, mecklenburg, OPD, and Brooklyn..did table talk with Colorado
