I have the same fear. It felt like the interview was so random. I can't decide if it went well or if I blew it.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone had a Bronx 3rd round and then been rejected?

I hear they hire almost all of the fair applicants that make it to round 3.Anonymous User wrote:Had a 2nd round with Miami a while ago, what's the word on final rounds? What are the chances of getting an offer after a 3rd round?

Has anyone heard back from DANY following an update ("I have offer/final round interview with another office") for a 4th round?

Can you give any insight on what to expect - or is that the point of 'random?' I have mine this week.Anonymous User wrote:I have the same fear. It felt like the interview was so random. The final round with another office generally won't get you anywhere, but an offer will (I know because I'm in this boat and am one of the people in this thread who had a 3rd round at the Bx...DANY told me they'd tried to get back to me beforehand, which obviously didn't happen, or to call them if/when I had an offer in hand).Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone heard back from DANY following an update ("I have offer/final round interview with another office") for a 4th round?
Agreed with above poster who said the Bx 3rd round was so random that I can't tell how it went.

I know people who got rejected after bx third round so it is a real interview. I wonder how they decide to offer some people the same or next day and others weeks later.

Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
For BX 3rd round, just make sure you study your resume, and your reasons for wanting to be a prosecutor. They are each going to ask you a question or two, and then its over.
Ex) Why would you be a good lawyer?
Ex) Why Law?
As far as 3d rounds vs. offers, offices generally will not move if you have a 3rd round. Once you get an offer, most offices will try and expedite your application if you are on their radar.

The final round is just with the DA, correct? Who is "they"? Also, how does he make a decision after 5 minutes of interview? It seems like there must be other factors.Anonymous User wrote:For BX 3rd round, just make sure you study your resume, and your reasons for wanting to be a prosecutor. DA, Executive Assistant, and head of Appeals. 3 people.
You meet in the DA's office. Remember by the time they meet you they have looked at the notes from the previous rounds and your resume. Then they ask you questions. I'm sure you have met someone and either you get a good vibe and felt comfortable or did not. Same here. Don't stress too much. Just be yourself.

Above poster, what kind of questions did NYDA ask in round 2?
Is round 2 the most difficult?

For BX, they made a point about not asking for juvenile convictions or traffic violations. I have a juvenile conviction that is pretty innocent/explainable, and same with a traffic violation. The HR form was explicit in that they didn't want us to include these things, but im wondering if I should disclose at 3rd round?

Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
The people you know who were rejected: did they do their 3rd round around this time of the year, or were they near the end of the cycle? And if you know (I'm sure they weren't eager to talk about it), did they say what happened in their 3rd round?Anonymous User wrote:I know people who got rejected after bx third round so it is a real interview. Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
If they specifically asked you to exclude it, you're probably fine. The 3rd round definitely isn't the appropriate time. If you're really concerned look at NY bar disclosure requirements. I wouldn't worry about this going in. Congrats on a third round and good luck!Anonymous User wrote:For BX, they made a point about not asking for juvenile convictions or traffic violations. Um, I've been interviewing for September and just did a 3rd round. No clue on as to offers re. January vs. September (didn't even know there *was* a January class).Anonymous User wrote:Offers for the January class you mean? Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
From what I know the only NYC borough giving out september offers already is DANY. BX should be starting soon hopefully tho.
RE crim defense - at least in NY, it seems like its all about how you sell it during your interview. 1L and 2L i did alot of defense work (not a clinic though). I didn't have any ADA experience going in but was able to sell other prosecution-related experiences well enough to make up for it. Defense work can hurt you if it seems like you aren't 100% committed to the job and comfortable with putting people in prison. It can help you if it gives you a narrative to explain why you want to do prosecution. I guess you can talk about the overlapping skill-sets, but my impression is that the interviewers relied mostly on your interview performance to assess whatever skills you claim to have.

I've heard the same. And DANY's been giving them to people with competing Biglawl or other offers while the rest of us stew.Anonymous User wrote:From what I know the only NYC borough giving out september offers already is DANY. BX should be starting soon hopefully tho.

BX DA is giving offers for the September class.
Re Defense work - It will not hurt unless it seems like you are undecided. Above poster is pretty much spot on. Use it to craft a narrative.

I hope you don't mind me prying. I have my BX third round this week. How do you know offers went out? Were they same day? I was under the impression that the rounds started on Friday so it seems like a quick turn around . Thanks!Anonymous User wrote:BX DA is giving offers for the September class.
