Neither. Firms know cls doesn't provide gpa info and if a firm wants your college grades they'll ask for them. You can put college latin honors (cum laude ect.) though if applicable

Okay, I'm all set to submit - I just want to confirm finally w/ y'all & see if I should reshuffle or drop a firm or two from the top half of the list to avoid missing the firms I'm most committed to snagging a screener with. Mostly concerned about bid placement now, not firm selection. NY unless otherwise indicated.

1. Boies Schiller
2. Kirkland Ellis
3. Morrison Foerster, SF
4. Sidley Austin
5. Skadden Arps
6. Debevoise
7. WilmerHale
8. White & Case
9. Linklaters
10. A&P
11. Paul Weiss
12. Cleary Gottlieb
13. Covington
14. Wachtell
15. Jones Day, LA
16. Paul Hastings, LA
17. Williams & Connolly, DC
18. Akin Gump, NY
19. Munger Tolles, LA
20. Cravath, NY
21. Latham, LA
22. Gibson, LA
23. Freshfields, UK
24. Clifford Chance, UK
25. Irell & Manella, LA
26. Simpson Thacher, NY
27. Allen & Overy, UK
28. S&C, Paris
29. Davis Polk, SF

Thanks!

[Bid List]

Thanks!

As you probably know, a lot of the firms on the bottom 2/3 of your list are probably bid higher than they need to be, but I take it that's intentional.

The only potential problem I see is with Freshfields? The way I read the EIP website, to interview for their London office you have to sign up for Freshfields (New York), and last year the first failed bid was at 19.

little finger, is it worth bidding the London/Paris offices? I don't see a single one that was overbid last year, and as far as I know, that's par for the course. I think you're fine to swap in more NY firms. (I don't know about the LA/SF offices but I wonder if this might be true, too.)

Littlefinger, if your only concern is getting those interviews, you're in a great spot. Other than the Freshfields comment above, I don't think you need to change anything.

Are some firms much higher than FFB would indicate is necessary? Yes, but if this list is the interviews you want, you're probably gonna get them all. When people say stuff like "Wachtell is too high" they're ignoring the fact that, if you aren't filling up on NY firms with large class sizes, you don't surrender 15 bids off the bat and you necessarily have to bump firms up.

Yeah, realized this, edited my post accordingly. If you stick with those firms below it, Wachtell is fine where it is.

OCS will reject your resume if it includes your law school GPA. Every firm you interview with at EIP will already have a copy of your resume when you get into the suite, so the one you put onto Symplicity obviously matters and OCS is the gatekeeper there. What you do when you mass mail is totally up to you.

Good point & thanks, I think I'll move Freshfields to Wachtell's spot and bump everyone down one slot accordingly.

Could someone give advice on what firms in the 20-30 bid list range I should be looking at as someone interested in corporate NYC? Mid-Stone. Open to bumping down Cravath and STB if necessary. Struggling to distinguish between a lot of them. Am I missing any or be removing any of these? (Again, all NYC)

20. Fried Frank
21. Cadwalader
22. Cravath
23. Goodwin Procter
24. Simpson Thacher
25. O’Melvany Myers (???)
26. Stroock & Stroock
27. Dechert
28. ???
29. DLA Piper (???)
30. ???

Sorry if this has been answered already, but I don't feel like reading through 18 pages.
Does anybody know what the limit to the number of interviews you can schedule in one day? For example, if there are 12 firms I want to interview with on the 11th, but I can only do 9 interviews, I want to make sure I rank my top 9 before numbers 10-12 even if one of them has lower ranked first failed bid.

Wachtell (which would usually go in a 28-29 spot) is a fairly glaring omission. They basically define NY corporate.

Bump. Any info on how to bid to maximize the 6 or so available interviews would be greatly appreciated. Interested in Corporate/Tax.

Yeah, Wachtell doesn't "define' New York corporate law, nor is it a glaring omission.

If you decide you want to throw something else in, you don't need to bid Cravath super high. I think they added 20 screeners from last year, IIRC. You'd at least be fine with right around where it fell last year (26).

I have never heard anyone talking about this as being a potential issue. Could someone confirm?

I don't think it's too aggressive, considering you are targeting NYC and have a bunch of firms right in your range with a good mix of reaches. Your grades should make you competitive at most of these places. I'm a little concerned about getting interviews with the firms in the middle range though. It's very tight right now e.g. Milbank and Allen & Overy. You should consider dropping a firm somewhere higher on the list if you want to be safer with these firms by bumping them up.
