This would be a lot more helpful if you supplied us with a firm name or a region and stats/school.Anonymous User wrote:Just got another interview. Not sure if its screener or callback. Pretty large regional firm from my state. That makes 8 interviews from the mass mail campaign.

You are right. CCN transfer. Mostly applying to NJ/PA (significant ties to the area) firms via mass mails since the NYC firms are coming to campus. The firm is Sills, Cummis & Gross, which is one of the larger NJ firms. Had interview with Day Pitney today, Porzio Bromberg callback tomorrow, and callback with Lowenstein Sandler Wednesday. I'm sure most NJ natives will be familiar with these firmsAnonymous User wrote:This would be a lot more helpful if you supplied us with a firm name or a region and stats/school.Anonymous User wrote:Just got another interview. Rejection letter in mail from Cahill after callback. CCN and Law Review. Not sure where my grades put me in terms of class rank but I'm maybe top third or quarter or something. Thought the interviews went well. Not sure what's the deal other than maybe they thought I didn't express enough interest in the firm. Good luck to everybody else who still has to hear.

It's good to know though that they're making quick decisions. I wonder if the offer ratio from these mass mail CBs will be less than OCI.

I think it almost has to be since the people getting direct callbacks never got filtered through screeners. It was a nice experience and I liked the people there. Little disappointing, but not a huge deal.Anonymous User wrote:I wonder if the offer ratio from these mass mail CBs will be less than OCI.

I wouldn't be so sure. I get the sense that once you pass the initial threshold (and you did by getting a direct callback), it boils down to fit. At this stage of the game, I'm not sure my academic credentials gave me a tangible leg up on any other callbacker who may be from a not-quite-as-good school or who has not-quite-as-good grades or who's a member of a good-but-not-law-review-good journal. Best of luck.Anonymous User wrote:Sorry about that. At least I know I have no chance now if you didn't get it.Anonymous User wrote:Rejection letter in mail from Cahill after callback. Re: Mass Mail Interview Response Time?
Anyone else having issues applying to McDermott Will & Emery? A few days ago, I applied through the online system to the Boston office and received application confirmations from Boston & NY. Just now, I applied through the online system to the DC office and received application confirmations from Boston, DC, and NY. Both times, I made sure to check only the box for the relevant office. If my applications actually got transmitted to multiple offices, I'll clearly get auto-dinged for incompetence.

Applying to multiple offices of the same firm was a bad idea in the first place.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone else having issues applying to McDermott Will & Emery? Why? I only did it when the website/NALP forms clearly indicated that different people handled the legal hiring and I made sure that nothing I said in my cover letters were contradictory.starchinkilt wrote:Applying to multiple offices of the same firm was a bad idea in the first place.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone else having issues applying to McDermott Will & Emery? On another note, has anyone heard anything from Philadelphia firms via mass mailing? I have apps out to roughly 8, and am still waiting.

Had screener, and was invited to callback at Ballard Spahr, and have a screener set up with Duane Morris. Saul Ewing is up in the air since they preselected me through my old school (I'm a transfer), and I'm waiting to see if they are cool with setting something up on the side, since they obviously were interested in me by virtue of pre-selecting me at my old school.Anonymous User wrote:Seriously questions you're desire to be in the market.Anonymous User wrote:Why? Sorry man. What reasons did you give to display your interest in the firm that you felt were insufficient?Anonymous User wrote:I wouldn't be so sure. In hindsight, I may have been too relaxed during the interviews with the partners. I feel like I articulated reasons for wanting the firm fairly well, though. Who knows.Anonymous User wrote:Sorry man. What reasons did you give to display your interest in the firm that you felt were insufficient?Anonymous User wrote:I wouldn't be so sure. I don't think they're having a summer program. They've had some rough times including a bunch of partner departures, and I don't think they're on the rise anytime soon.Anonymous User wrote:Dinged at Butzel Long Detroit (email)

If a firm's recruiter is out of the office for 2 weeks, would it be appropriate to email the hiring attorney directly? Otherwise, I am just worried about my email getting lost/buried.

Call the main desk, be incredibly courteous on the phone, and see if they can help you locate the best person to contact.Whatisthis wrote:If a firm's recruiter is out of the office for 2 weeks, would it be appropriate to email the hiring attorney directly? Re: Mass Mail Interview Response Time?
Unless it's a tiny firm, there are generally more people in the recruiting office than just the recruiter. I've been contacted by recruiting assistants, summer program coordinators, associates on the hiring committee, etc., especially for arranging screening interviews and callbacks. While the recruiter might be out of the office visiting campuses on OCI trips, there should be someone dealing with the home office recruiting tasks. Do you see contact information for any other recruiting personnel? It might be best to start attempting to contact them before going to the hiring atty. If that information is not available and you don't get anywhere going through a receptionist, I'd say yeah contact the hiring atty if it's high on your list and explain why briefly.Whatisthis wrote:If a firm's recruiter is out of the office for 2 weeks, would it be appropriate to email the hiring attorney directly? Yes... call back scheduled. Below median at T6.Anonymous User wrote:That is exactly what they said; is it too hopeful to actually believe them and just wait it out for the offer? I appreciate your help here.$$$$$$ wrote:It's definitely a calback, I have a couple from mass mails and they were all screeners (1 attorney or HR person), I also have one from resume drop and its with 3 so im not too sure what it is, but my guess is a callback. They would not waste that much money to let you talk to 4 attorneys just to see if you should come in again...but what the hell do i know. Also, they will probably talk to you about how its really early in the process and so it may take a while to give you a decision.
Also, anyone heard anything from Weil?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
