I'm one of the anons above. Look -- I get where the snark is coming from, I do. And I know that this could all be rendered moot in a few days or weeks. I hope it is. But I desperately want to avoid a situation where I'm doing the same kind of work, for the same hours for 20k less than my peers. I'm just trying to see what the play is if my firm doesn't match.5ky wrote:The most important thing, more than securing a job at a 180 firm, is to rescind any acceptances or resign ASAP (if already at a firm). Seconded. My bar prep is shit until Brogan speaks. Already wasted time polishing my resume. Don't want to have to waste more time writing cover letters to all the firms in my city that matched begging them to take me.Anonymous User wrote:Can someone phone BROGAN and tell him it's time for JD to wake up! lost hours spent drooling on TLS this week are more than going to make up for any lost PPP.

Their memo stated that they will be monitoring the activity in other cities to determine raises in other offices. Not quite the Convington "New York or nothing" memo. Probably just waiting for other big Boston players to move. I don't think they deserve to be on the Covington shit list.Anonymous User wrote:Brown Rudnick joins the CovingTTTon List.

Also, the waiting sucks, and this thread is a good place for some of us to blow off steam. I mean, most of this thread has been about making Covington jokes anyways.Anonymous User wrote:I'm one of the anons above. Look -- I get where the snark is coming from, I do. Meh not like we need salary bump in DC. More concerned about long term financial health of firm. Rather have a job tomorrow than an extra 20K today. We probably don't even deserve extra 20K. I forgot to double check those citations in that one brief we filed at 12pm last Friday night. I still have 25 years to pay off my loans. My love life is not great but not horrible. No time for exercise. Getting fat. My mom still loves me. Mo money mo problems. Prestige is still intact.

You must be joking. NY and DC costs of living are basically the same. And it's not just "an extra 20K". The salary difference between the two scales is $90k over the first four years, even more after that.Anonymous User wrote:Meh not like we need salary bump in DC. The managing partner of the firm told SAs on Tuesday that they are aware of the raises and what it would cost the firm to do so. Aside from that, the firm has been silent. With what happened regarding bonuses two years ago, once Paul Hastings, MoFo, and Orrick match, we will match.jbagelboy wrote:yea I brought CA up a bunch of times but once Latham, Quinn, Cooley, and every OOS firm with an office in CA matched, it was sort of settled. I actually wasn't sure whether you were trolling until I saw your next post.5ky wrote:No. Any firms that haven't matched yet have experienced such a decline in image and prestige they aren't worth staying at. Great explanation, Sheppard Mullin Managing Partner. Guess what? When other firms raise salaries, it costs them as well.Anonymous User wrote:The managing partner of the firm told SAs on Tuesday that they are aware of the raises and what it would cost the firm to do so.jbagelboy wrote: One firm I'm not sure about is Sheppard Mullin, but my guess would be they still wind up matching.

This assumes those firms will match.Anonymous User wrote:The managing partner of the firm told SAs on Tuesday that they are aware of the raises and what it would cost the firm to do so. Fuck BR for dinging 10 of its incoming associates three weeks before graduation, then turning around to OCI like nothing happened and bragging about its "best year ever."
