The most important thing, more than securing a job at a 180 firm, is to rescind any acceptances or resign ASAP (if already at a firm). Being unemployed is better than waiting an extra few days to see if your firm matches.

I'm one of the anons above. Look -- I get where the snark is coming from, I do. And I know that this could all be rendered moot in a few days or weeks. I hope it is. But I desperately want to avoid a situation where I'm doing the same kind of work, for the same hours for 20k less than my peers. I'm just trying to see what the play is if my firm doesn't match.

Their memo stated that they will be monitoring the activity in other cities to determine raises in other offices. Not quite the Convington "New York or nothing" memo. Probably just waiting for other big Boston players to move. I don't think they deserve to be on the Covington shit list.

You must be joking. NY and DC costs of living are basically the same. And it's not just "an extra 20K". The salary difference between the two scales is $90k over the first four years, even more after that.

The managing partner of the firm told SAs on Tuesday that they are aware of the raises and what it would cost the firm to do so. Aside from that, the firm has been silent. With what happened regarding bonuses two years ago, once Paul Hastings, MoFo, and Orrick match, we will match.
