Charlotte's market is really more like $130. It just happens to have some major firm outposts that pay higher because of the banks there.Generally wrote: It's ridiculous that Charlotte's market would be above ATL. K&S and A&B should pay their main offices the same as they pay their NYC associates, seems only fair.

Fellow PH associate here. What makes you think PH will match at all? I am quite pessimistic at this point.Anonymous User wrote:PH Associate here, if PH goes 180 everywhere EXCEPT Atlanta, where they already pay what you may consider an above-market 160, does that put us on the Covingttton list?

Judging by how the past couple days have gone, the next two hours should be around when the firms that are moving today announce. It's been pretty quiet today.

CA is a foregone conclusion just like everywhere else that paid 160k last week. If your firm hasn't matched yet give it a few days.patentlitigatrix wrote:Relatedly, this thread has made it clear to me that very few people on here care about CA at all.BigZuck wrote:Why does this thread keep beating around the bush instead of evolving into the full blown "Which city is better" debate thread that it was always destined to become?

Would love to meet the associate who lateraled out in Days 3-5, only for his/her firm to match after the fact.Anonymous User wrote:Not necessarily. Know of several associates who have actively fielded recruiter calls from other 180k firms. yea I brought CA up a bunch of times but once Latham, Quinn, Cooley, and every OOS firm with an office in CA matched, it was sort of settled. One firm I'm not sure about is Sheppard Mullin, but my guess would be they still wind up matching.Tiago Splitter wrote:CA is a foregone conclusion just like everywhere else that paid 160k last week. Last summer at a dinner with Seth & Greg, Seth gave a speech and alluded to firms bifurcating when the market moves, and that we'll be on the good side of the move when it happens. When salaries were raised on a Monday in 2007, PH matched on the following Monday.iluvpaulhastings wrote:Fellow PH associate here. What makes you think PH will match at all? No, and I doubt any will. Weil has like ten associates in Miami or something. W&C is cheap AF so they will CovingTTTon and no one else was paying anything close to 160 before now (except Boies) so I don't see a match comingAnonymous User wrote:Other than Weil, has any other firm in Miami matched?

Maybe McDermott or DLA? But probably not... Think it may nevertheless move Miami from 145 to something closer to 160?

Original Anon here, I don't have any reason other than how the firm wants to portray itself and who we claim as peers. I mean, they HAVE to match NY and CA, right? Maybe the middle of the country will get left off, especially if someone else joins CovingTTTon in DC.Anonymous User wrote:Last summer at a dinner with Seth & Greg, Seth gave a speech and alluded to firms bifurcating when the market moves, and that we'll be on the good side of the move when it happens. 100% going to match in CA, NY, Texas. 95% chance of match in DC. 75% Chicago. Which offices are those? W&C has Bos/LA/Miami/NY/SV/DC. I'm guessing that means Bos/LA/NY/DC?WinSome wrote:White & Case matched for all offices currently on 160k scale.
