did DPW NY do a lot of pre-oci this year? was talking to a friend at a different school, they told me DPW has hosted offer events before EIP, and 40ish offeree showed up. I am shook ... isn't pre-oci strictly forbidden at basically all major NY market feeder schools (HLS/CLS/NYU)? 40ish means approximately half of the summer class has been filled before recruiting process actually started at any of the feeder schools. seems really sus

20% of them were from Upenn I heard

So UPenn doesn't have restrictions on Pre-OCI? I am really mad at our OCS right now lol, friends at CLS/NYU said the same thing, they felt their chances are hindered bc of the stupid pre-oci rules, or rather, some schools/firms not following those rules.

Penn student here. I believe we do have restrictions. The official policy guidelines sent out to employers seemed to emphasize this but I don't recall having the policy explained to students. I had someone from career services STRONGLY tell me that Pre-OCI was frowned upon. That said, I've heard of several folks getting offers early through Pre-OCI... So at the end of the day, students were hopping on whatever opportunities were available if they had solid 1L grades.

How are we supposed to approach being on hold at firms? Waiting to hear back from several offices after decent callbacks. I know offers have gone out, but I'm sitting here in silence. Is it appropriate to circle back with interviewers?

Give it a week before following up. Some committees might not have had chance to meet after your CB.

You can always follow up to reiterate your interest and ask about decision timelines, especially if you're sitting on another offer and so turnaround time actually matters.

Not someone who interviewed with Kirkland, but: do CB interview dates really matter? An offer is an offer, so it's not like waiting for CB invitations post-screener.

I wouldn't expect a firm to send out offers before considering all candidates, but maybe that's naive of me.

Unfortunately that's not how it works because they then risk losing candidates to other firms. That system would also make it hard to manage their own internal # and whether they are under/over extending # of offers.
