A classmate of mine was rejected by DANY via snail mail on Friday (1/22). They did their 2nd Round there in mid-November. They had also worked at DANY this past summer.

I'm still waiting to hear from them too. I had my 2nd round on 10/26 and emailed them on Thursday (1/21) to submit an updated unofficial transcript with my new grades. They emailed back the same day saying thank you and that my application was still pending...

Well the link for the Bronx has additional training that you likely would need before having a case load (ie. Legal Writing, Motion Practice, Speedy Trial, etc.). I imagine they just give you the bare-bones training so you can go right in to the Intake/ Early Case Assessment where you won't need those skills yet.

Well the link for the Bronx has additional training that you likely would need before having a case load (ie. Legal Writing, Motion Practice, Speedy Trial, etc.). The training is traditionally 3-4 weeks long, not 2 weeks. The head trainer has not changed (yet?). There is additional training sessions constantly, including a 1 week trial training with a mock trial at the end. There are also many optional sessions from senior ADAs like "effective cross-examination"

I have not heard of anyone being rejected by Cook County. I know that all of the people who applied there from my Tier 1, out of region school received final round interviews and I know a person from a non-ranked, out of region school with no connection to Chicago who received one as well...

No, NYC ADAs do not prosecute low level traffice tickets (i.e. speeding, cell phone while driving). They do prosecute DUIs, though.

The ADAs will prosecute them if its related to some more serious crime, like use of a cell phone led to mowing down a pedestrian who later died.

No, NYC ADAs do not prosecute low level traffice tickets (i.e. speeding, cell phone while driving). They do prosecute DUIs, though.

The ADAs will prosecute them if its related to some more serious crime, like use of a cell phone led to mowing down a pedestrian who later died.

They also prosecute VTL 511 cases, which is basically unlicensed driving (DWI's are also VTL, but we always prosecute them). The above example would be a vehicular assault/manslaughter, and prosecuted under the PL section.

But for the most part, no. Speeding tickets and all that are not prosecuted by the DA's.

Thank goodness for this, and appreciate the responses. Glad we actually only prosecute crimes.
My friend in NJ is stuck in traffic court prosecuting minor violations and it blows. He envies the big offices.

Mind = blown at the amount of training/orientation in NY.

My secondary market office's "training" consists of reading a notebook of old powerpoint slides related to DUIs, someone spending an hour showing you how to do the initial assay/prep of a case when it first lands on your desk, an hour of instruction on the various computer systems, and shadowing someone else for a few days. Then you get assigned a docket with ~20-30 files per week and told to start sending out pre-trial plea offers to the defense attorneys. Misdemeanor trials (except DUIIs) on your own in week 2. DUII trials after a month or so.

What are the background checks like for the nyc offices? I have a couple ACDs and an outright dismissal (facial insufficiency FTW). School C&F knows, da office never asked. Was previously fingerprinted for another office's internship background check, no issue.

Offer contingent on background investigation so naturally starting to get paranoid.

Only was asked about convictions. These were all resolved at arraignment, think BS pink summons something like 10 years ago.

I imagine I fill out more paperwork closer to the start date to assist with the investigation, maybe a credit check release?

Other than that, I'm a solid candidate with an offer. How much should I worry?
