Grabbed an open sign-up for a firm I had bid on (and didn't get), but didn't realize it was a different office until too late. Do I mention the office I bid on at all, or just do my best to pitch the office I signed up for? (0 ties.)

How do you find firms with open sign-ups?

i'm feeling the same... the way i read those links is that open sign ups don't start until Aug. 9. at noon. Am I reading this wrong?

Also, what is the point of the waitlist if there are also open sign ups?

ugh, i see the email you are talking about. that's annoying that they added another open sign up period and didn't make it clearer... also, this open sign up was at the same time as the OTIP LA program

You can't cancel so just show up and make a good faith effort so they don't think you're wasting their time. You can try asking about the other office in the interview but that could have drastically different results depending on the firm. If it's not a firm that's open to people targeting multiple offices I would probably just politely smile through this screener and mass mail your target office.

according to this https://careerspace.law.northwestern.ed ... 3a2lvg.pdf we can only have sign up for 3 interviews during open sign-ups.. does this mean 3 total or 3 per open sign-up period?

i just signed up for 2 but i realize that I probably should be more strategic with the firms I sign up for if it is 3 total.

Only to the extent that a lot of other people will have resumes on resume paper and you don't necessarily want to stand out.
