Re: Michigan OCI 2015
No, it does not necessarily mean that. It's not a good sign, but it is possible that someone was slow in filling out their form. Or that the partner who was supposed to make the call for the one who didn't get an offer had something come up. Odds are, if two people interview and one person hears the next day and the other doesn't, the firm was a good deal more keen on the person who heard. But that's not necessarily so.

Re: Michigan OCI 2015
do you that is the case if only 2 people had CBs? if there were more--atleast 5 and only 1 has heard back, what about the others? less likely that they all get rejections?

if we think we may be getting rejections but we thought the CBs went well, is there anything people recommend doing?

Firms do know who bid on them. I got an email from a firm I bid on but didn't get an interview with (and them saying as much) encouraging me to resume dropAnonymous User wrote:Offers are going to usually come by phone from a partner--usually someone you interviewed with. Firms may not get back to people consistently. It might take 24 hours one day and a week the next. It depends on who is available and when the committee or whoever makes the decision meets. Don't freak out, just keep working to find a job until to have one.
As for the if I didn't bid on them for OCI, is it odd to ask for an interview now: NO!
Firms don't know who bid on them. They just know who they interviewed. I also want to strongly recommend that those of you lacking CBs look beyond the big firms that everyone knows about (not over them, because you should try to get an interview with them as well). But especially in cities like New York or Chicago, there are lots of smaller firms that might take someone for the summer. The pay may or may not be market, but the potential to do really interesting and profitable work does not stop with the Am Law whatever. Find controversial people who've needed good lawyers to represent them recently and look at who they're using. Or go on the small and midsize firm list.
A year ago, most of you guys didn't know what the V50 was, and you didn't think practicing law required you to work at Cravath (this is at least true for anyone I would ever want to hire). So don't go crazy because SRZ hasn't gotten back to you as quickly as you hoped or because someone else was snagged a summer spot and now thinks they've got their life figured out. Broaden your search; use your resources; play to your strengths. It'll work out.

Yes. My recollection is that firms can see that you did or did not bid on them, but how high or how low you bid on them is unknown.

No. This is why these threads are dumb. You need to be patient. Anything and everything you do at this point other than no contact is a strike against you.Anonymous User wrote:if we think we may be getting rejections but we thought the CBs went well, is there anything people recommend doing?
