Plea Policy from the Queens DA Website:

"The Bureau supervises the office’s No Plea Policy. Defendants arrested for felonies in Queens County must, if they wish to engage in pre-indictment plea negotiations, waive their 180.80 and speedy trial rights at their Criminal Court arraignment. If they do not waive these rights, the case will be presented to the Grand Jury and the defendant must plead to the top count of the indictment. If the defendant waives these rights, the case will be conferenced with a Deputy Bureau Chief. Very often the defendant agrees to take a felony plea prior to being indicted. In fact, almost 60% of the felony prosecutions in Queens County are handled pre-indictment. If the defendant refuses to take a plea prior to indictment, the case will be presented to the Grand Jury and, if the defendant is indicted, he must plead guilty to the top count of the indictment or go to trial."

Question - Has anyone ever accepted an offer (at one DA Office) and then later reneged after receiving an offer with a different office? (Ex- Getting an offer from BX, accepting that offer, and then accepting offer with Brooklyn after)

Yeah, don't do that. If you get an offer, tell your 1st/preferred choices right away. The offices here are especially good at speeding up / getting back to you ASAP (though you should've been keeping them in the loop as to where you were with other offices as it is).

Any idea how long between when you meet with the Bronx DA to when they let you know whether you have an offer?

Hmmm, I'm guessing the answer is there's no way to gauge what it depends on? I just had mine, and it was so short that I can't even think of anything that they could've latched onto for a "yea" or "nay" answer.

Don't be discouraged by the length of the interview or the questions that they asked. My 3rd round with BX was extremely short, 3 random questions, and then "Ok, thanks. Nice to meet you." I thought I did terribly, and I received an offer a couple days later.

Don't beat yourself up over it.

Lol, that's pretty much exactly what happened so that's good to hear. They warned me it would be short, but I was caught off guard by the sudden "okay thanks nice to meet you bye!" thing. I thought "wait, what just happened and what did I just do?"

Have not heard anything related to DANY in terms of 4th rounds. Have a second round in December.

Question
- If you had the choice (DANY, QUEENS, BX, or BK) which one would you choose?

No, but I am waiting to hear whether I'll be getting one.

Also, to the above poster's Q, I think for most people the answer is DANY (highest paid, best reputation, etc.), and then after that it comes down to preference (except for maybe Bk with that stupidly low salary compared to Qu and the Bx).

Is anyone else waiting over a month between 3rd and 4th rounds in Brooklyn.? I know people have been invited for 3rds and unable to schedule them. Is something going on that is stalling the process or is it just time to move on?

I had to wait about 3 weeks between 3rd and 4th round. I wouldn't assume that its time to move one just yet. KCDA is still figuring out their recruiting process as they go along, and they purposely haven't let any of their current fall interns do their second rounds yet. My read from this is that they still got along to go before they finish recruiting. Has anyone heard ANY kinds of indications that KCDA salary may go up in the future?

I don't think it's going up anytime soon. But you have the opportunity to advance more quickly there. Congrats on your 4th round. If you don't mind me asking, when did you have it?

Applied back in August to all of them.

Have bugged, but haven't heard anything. Especially interested in Bronx, and spoke with others in the office after interview through mutual friends etc. Haven't heard anything. Am I officially SOL?

Until you get a rejection letter, you are still technically in the running.

I have not heard of BX rejecting anyone after 3rd round, but I imagine that it happens if you bomb. BX is usually first to make offers, so the other offices might start hurrying on those who the BX extended offers to.

Bumb

Is NYDA good with rescheduling interviews if you have pending offers?

Had a 2nd round with Miami a while ago, what's the word on final rounds? What are the chances of getting an offer after a 3rd round?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
