I'd drop Ropes and add K&L Gates/Reed Smith/DLA.

Yeah, Ropes & Gray was a little random. But I feel like it wouldn't really surprise anyone if any of those firms covingTTTonned. No disrespect to anyone who works there, and I'd love to be proven wrong, but I think a lot of people already expect those firms won't match nationwide. I'll do Paul Hastings since they're notoriously cheap despite actually being profitable. I wouldn't put it past them.

Where Ropes goes, so goes Wilmer. Ropes has to match in NY and Chicago now, and they won't match there without matching Boston too. Once Ropes matches in Boston, Wilmer will match in Boston (and NY/DC). They don't really have a choice. DC firms won't push Wilmer to match, Ropes will. Once Wilmer matches, other DC firms will follow suit too. CovingTTTon will eventually relent, like it did in 2007. Wilmer just doesn't like to be the first to do anything, especially in terms of comp, so they'll wait for Ropes to do it and then follow suit.
