How should I be interpreting firms who I know have definitely sent out dings, but that I haven't heard from either way (positively or negatively)?

Do firms yield protect? I have not yet received CBs from "lower ranked" firms, whereas I have multiple v10 CBs. Maybe the difference in my interest in the firms was manifest during the interview.

I was waiting to hear from some of my best interviews (including one partner who explicitly told me I would be getting a CB) and still had silence over the weekend. I'm hoping that's normal.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone else have mostly silence the whole weekend?

Yeah I had 11 interviews on Friday and silence from all. And my screener to cb ratio for other days was definitely not zero.Anonymous User wrote:I was waiting to hear from some of my best interviews (including one partner who explicitly told me I would be getting a CB) and still had silence over the weekend. Cleary NY dings came out?? And STB came out early so little chance it's because they haven't gotten to you. you're probably still under consideration.Anonymous User wrote:Arnold & Porter, Simpson, Cleary, etc.Anonymous User wrote:My guess is reserve group? Sorry, Cleary DC. I wonder what the chances are like getting out of these "reserve groups"? And how long we might be expected to waitAnonymous User wrote:Cleary NY dings came out?? Am I the only one who doesn't want to go to a firm that makes calls on Saturdays and Sundays?
Also- I'm not giving up for call backs until Wednesday. I think that is plenty of time for Friday firms to get back to us

I have similar results and am wondering this as well. Of the 10 firms I have heard from, 7 have been callbacks, 1 was a ding from an incredibly selective firm, and 2 were dings from firms considerably less selective than those that called me back.Anonymous User wrote:Do firms yield protect? Re: Columbia EIP 2017
Anecdotal, but I had this experience somewhat last year also (Kent grades). Dings 2+ weeks post-EIP from not very selective firms after having my CBs with more selective firms, with what seemed like similar screeners. Also possible they were picking up lower interest, but I do think there's somewhat of a YP effect in terms of trying to use their CBs on candidates they think are more likely to take them.Anonymous User wrote:I have similar results and am wondering this as well. Re: Columbia EIP 2017
This has been my experience too. I get why law schools do it, but it's a little less clear why firms do it. Avoiding "waste" of attorney hours during CBs maybe?Anonymous User wrote:I have similar results and am wondering this as well. For my people interviewing for DC - any Akin Gump, Skadden, or Hogan Lovells?
